It's Been 2 Months and I STILL Love This Phone!!!

I recently went through a bout of uncertainty about Inc vs. X. But after watching some of the Droid X videos out there I quickly was over it. The Inc is the phone for me.

Ive never used stock Android or Blur but I think one of the biggest reasons I love the Inc so much is HTC's Sense UI.

Agreed.
Sense made me really jump over to android....It may seem silly, but it made that refined/ polished look to the os.

Add me to the "This is the best phone I have every had" party!! I have had it since May 27th and I absolutely love it. I have quite a few apps and I'm on this forum everyday reading up and learing.

I'm new to android so this has been (and still is) a complete learning experience. I did changed my boot up animation to the cool red eye and the Droid audio and that works great!!

Also like to thank the folks on this forum for being so helpful and sharing their experiences as well as aswering questions and guiding folks like me. :-)

How did you go about changing your boot up with the cool red eye and the droid audio?:)

For me the question is no longer really DINC vs. X, but DINC vs. Fascinate (Galaxy S). That phone eats the X for breakfast (this is a moto fanboy-free zone, right ;)), and it isn't hella huge. Bigger than the appropriately nicknamed Dinc, but not "metal slab" big.

The only real question is whether the interface is tolerable enough to make it a bonafide alternative to the DINC. Sense >>>>>>> Touchwiz, and reviews of the European Galaxy S all say the UI kinda blows. Plus there is basically no chance of that phone seeing any updates past froyo (I still hold out hope based on past performance that the Dinc will see Gingerbread).

Anybody else wondering? My return window closes in T-minus 37 hours...

I see Qazme already provided the link.

I read through that link a few times to wrap my mind around what steps were needed to make the change in the boot animation. The process seemed a little overwhelming when reading it but after I got started it was pretty straight forward and well worth the effort. I love my boot up animation now and it is really cool.

Edit: and I'm not rooted

I'm assuming the DI had to be rooted to do that. Changing the startup animation and sound, from what I have read online, can only be done on a rooted DI. Is that right?

The sound has to be named something particular and pushed to the same directory as the boot animation. Don't remember the name however.

I did that last nite as well. I still can't get sound but the animation works perfect.

There are two files you need, the boot animation zip as well as the sound MP3. You need that mp3 file to get sound. Did you install it when you did the boot animation install? If so, make sure your phone is on ring when you shut it down, if it is on vibe or silent then you will not hear the audio part of the boot animation.

Yup. I followed the directions to the T. Installed the animation and the mp3 file. The CMD window shows it as a succesful install but still no sound. May try again ytonite. Not that big of a deal. Love the animation.

The sound has to be named "android_audio.mp3" I believe you can also use .ogg files.

adb push android_audio.mp3 /data/local <---same spot as the bootanimation.zip

I can't believe its been two months since I got my DINC! Coming from a Storm 1, this phone is just so much better. Fast, reliable, smooth, etc. Like many others, I was waiting for the nexus one to go Verizon, but am I glad big red came out with this. Enjoy using it everyday, although the only thing I need to order is an extended battery!

Qazme, did you say you switched batteries? what did you switch to? was it a stock replacement or an aftermarket? I'm just curious if you were having problems. I am getting a replacement sent to me to fix 5hr charge duration.

I swapped to a Seidio 1750maH. Been great so far lasting 12 hours under heavy usage. If I'm really busy and not on my phone playing around as much it will last upwards of 15-16 hours give or take. The 5hr charge duration is the average you will get from any OEM HTC 1300maH battery. So your replacement won't be any better. Bump charge it and you will get about 8-10 hours out of it possibly.

Now as far as getting that sound and animation working this is exactly what I did and it worked perfectly. Try his removal and readd thing and see if it fixes it.
