It's been long enough - some input on screen protectors?

I don't necessarily use them for additional drop protection. I'm with you on it being a bit of luck of the draw whether they help or not in that scenario. I only use them because I hate seeing micro scratches on my screen. I don't mind a ding here or there in the frame, or scratches on the back even. But those tiny little scratches that you can only see from certain angles really drive me crazy for some reason.
That's why I use screen protectors. It's just for protection from scratches from pocket lint.

I bought the P6 instead of the pro because of the flat screen...which gives me access to cheap tempered glass screen protectors.

My Note 10+, on the other hand, has that stupid curve, which means I needed something more. That usually implies one of those screen protectors with the tacky circle in the middle for the fingerprint sensor...unless I wanted to spend $40-$60 on a Glassdome. Don't even get me started on those guys.

Overall, its a piece of glass that definitely adds more protection. I'd rather spend $10 on one than $100 to replace a screen and have to go a few days with a giant crack that can potentially lead to more damage.

The theory that you shouldn't need one if you do everything right is kinda flawed when applied to other fail-safes and just-in-cases, like seatbelts, health insurance and getting the 24oz instead of the 16oz prime rib...you may not need it now, but you'll be thankful when you do.

I wasn't looking at any privacy film screen protector. I got a regular film screen protector from Costco and like it. It's holding up fine, and it has a warranty for as long as I own the S22 Ultra. If it ever is damaged they will replace it for free.
How much did you have to pay for it?

I've been using the IMBZBK screen protector from Amazon for the S22 Ultra. I prefer tempered glass but don't have the patience to try the Whitestone Dome and the glass one I tried initially made the fingerprint scanner ineffective. The IMBZBK went on easily and the fingerprint scanner works fine with it on, so it works for me.

Me too. I prefer using a clear back protector on my phones which leaves the screen vulnerable when carrying it in my work bag or pocket.

I have tempered glass on my S6 Lite tablet, but for my wife's S22 (and for my still-to-ship S22+) it's the AmFilm hybrid.

I installed the AmFilm Hybrid on my wife's S22 and it's awesome. It checks every box: looks perfect, installs like a dream, feels just like glass, virtually all owners report that the fingerprint reader works perfectly, and it's priced right - about $8 on Amazon. IMO, this should be the default choice for S22's.

I'm not using any screen protector on my S6 Lite tablet, but I have it in a folio case, so it is always covered when not in use.

A screen protector is something I tried and didn't like. Problems with curved displays, bubbling, peeling and touch sensitivity, (yes I know the setting for increased touch sensitivity).

I'm always really careful when carrying my phone. In my right pocket goes my phone with nothing else. And my left pocket wallet, keys etc. This is my 3rd Galaxy phone and I never scratched the screens.

I'm been using a film protector since pretty much since I got my S21 ultra and it's been flawless since. No bubbles, no stuff marks and the edges have been perfect with no signs of peeling off. I'm going to leave it on there when I send my phone back to Samsung.

I don't know how people do it, but the moment I decide to go without a screen protector (believing the hype behind gorilla glass xx) I always end up with one major scratch and micro scratches. Been rolling with Whitestone for a minute now and don't have the issues other folks bring up *shrugs*

Has anyone noticed that the oleophobic coating on the Whitestone Dome screen protectors for the S22 series isn't as strong as previous generations?

With the first one I applied I chalked it up to something I did with the way it was wiped down. Just installed another one this past Thursday, and it is showing clowded areas where either my face or pillow touched it. Granted you can only see this clouding in just the right light, but it still bothers my OCD.

I have the Spigen NeoFlex on my S22U and not getting the peeling up on the curved edges. On my N20U I had Spigen and it curled up a bit. I agree that the curved edges are not very useful.

I had a screen protector long ago on my first iPhone4 and also on my first BlackBerry Z10. I tried one on my BlackBerry Playbook Tablet also long ago and it just didn't feel/work right. I haven't used a screen protector on any of my devices since. Not the follow on Z10s, the Q10, any of my Samsung Tablets, not now either on my current Samsung A21. I don't think I could ever use a screen protector anymore, but maybe some of them nowadays are really good/clear. I have only experienced a very few slight scratches over the years, but others probably have to use their devices in way more unforgiving scenarios.

Before my first smartphone (the iPhone4), I experienced far more scratches and screen damage for a few of the "feature phones" I had back then.

I am a fan of no screen protector at all and wonder if they are needed at all, given how fast some people cycle through devices and how well screens are made nowadays (and I normally keep my devices longer than most people).

I agree ;)

I just installed a WSD on my ultra. So far ok. Will say that the dust stickers were worthless, they were stuck to the paper they were on. However, installed dozens of screen protectors of all types on many phones, I had a few sheets of these from previous protectors. Overall, a simple install. Time will tell.

Easy for an expert like you with steady hands. I'd have to get high! LOL I bought a film protector (flex glass)approved for S22U but now the fingerprint detector isn't dependable and I have to press too hard. I would discard it but I wasted so much $ for a smudge magnet I am embarrassed to tear it off... yet.
