It's Official Gingerbread Rolling out NOW.

Can anyone access the clear cache menu from power up? I get the exclamation point but pressing the magnifying glass doesn't open the menu.

Just got a phone call and I couldnt answer it. Pressing answer did nothing. Love these update hassles.

Hold Home, power and when its time, click both vol up/down buttons, not the magnifying glass. That will bring up the MOTO recovery screen

Update: Gingerbread install successful on rooted DX. Again, I hadn't had a chance to remove bloatware or rom it, but... there ya go. Just waiting for reboot to complete.

Thanks. If this doesnt work ill have to do a wipe. I dont think ive had an update go smooth once. For some reason the screen just freezes. I finally made a phone call but it froze and I couldnt hang up. Then after a minute it hung up.

Last update. Gingerbread OTA sucessfully installed on my rooted DX. It broke root, but that's ok. takes two seconds to re-root. I did have some issues with Go Launcher EX so I uninstalled that. I was going to anyhow to see how I liked the new stock interface. With the two seconds I've been able to play with it, I think it's pretty slick.

Ok so my phone is freezing every minute then I get an error message saying Activity settings isnt working and it gives me the option to force close. I do and now its running fine. What is activity settings?

Wondering is there a difference between the ota and the .596 that I downloaded and installed? Anyone got any insight. Almost considering going back to froyo just to install the ota.

Grabbed it on my sweetheart's totally stock x this morning. Running well, pulling down 1650 quadrant even with all the bloat, no overclock, etc.
That's a nice leap when you take a look back at what numbers the stock x was doing when it shipped with eclair.

cant get into ringtones now. When I try it freezes then i get the "activity android system in application settings is not responding" and I have to force close to get the phone working.

Any fix for this?

UPDATE
So i figured im probably going to have to wipe so i just went in and started clearing the data on all the system apps and now pressing ringtones in the system setting doesnt freeze the phone but i lost all my ringtones. Looks like its wipe time.

You were rooted and it installed fine, but it broke root, which is what I expected. However there are a lot who were also rooted and the install failed. So it seems to be sporadic.

got mine late last night and so far i like it. my only problem is that they took away the smiley faces from the main keyboard. gotta get it from pressing the menu option.

oh well. a small issue for me.

Get swiftkey beta in the market...imo it is way better.

For those that did the update OTA, did you have your "Backup and Restore" options checked or checked off? Remember how this was an issue when updating to Froyo? Will it be the same issue here?
