It's sitting here. New. But I'm a lefty... Will I regret keeping this because I'm left handed?

I picked up a Note 8 last night. I have 14 days. I do have to pay $35 if I return it. I've started playing around with it.

My biggest concern was that I am left-handed. I fooled with it in the store but I wasn't able to really try it because the pen was tethered to the table and it wouldn't go in the phone all the way.

If you are left-handed, have you noticed any issues with it?

(lefties will know what I mean about all sorts of issues that can come up)

Dang, did I buy a right handed phone? I guess it is a pain that the stylus is on the right side But moved the slide bar to the left side, other than that, no problems.

Which hand do your hold your phone in? Some use their dominant hand, some use the other so they can tap with the dominant one.

But moved the slide bar to the left side, other than that, no problems.

Are you left handed? I'm not sure got it. Did you move that or suggesting i move it?

You're going to get some seriously newbie questions from me..... what is the "slide bar"?

I don't notice any particular issues. But I probably subconsciously adjust as a lefty in a right hand world all the time anyway.

I'm a lefty and haven't had any issues using one handed.

Put on home button 3 tap for one handed use.
Put on home screen swipe down for notification shade.

2 handed is even better.

Other then that... Business as usual.

I'm a lefty, this phone was made for lefties! First, the fingerprint scanner position that so many loathe was made just for lefties! I carry the phone in my left front pocket so when I fish the phone out with my left hand (obviously) my index finger is positioned perfectly to place on the FPS to unlock the phone. I moved the Edge panel grab bar over to the left side since generally I hold the phone in my right hand and use my left to operate things. This is my second note and I have never noticed any issues with being left-handed. Then again (as you well-know or at least should well-know) left-handed people are vastly superior to those poor right-handed people. Nothing is ever really a challenge for us. Or maybe you're not really a lefty but rather righty trapped in a lefty's brain?

I'm left handed and have only one iasue. My only issue is with the phone is the placement of the fingerprint sensor. With the way I hold the phone one handed, the sensor is too high up. It would of been better in the center about a half an inch down. If I stretch my index finger upward, it naturally lands on the center camera lens. I have to uncomfortably move my finger to the side to make contact with the sensor. Even then, most of the time I have to flip the phone over and put my finger properly on the sensor.

I'm one of those whacked out lefties who do some things with either hand. I'm a mess.

I, like you, carry the phone in my left pocket. I agree, the unlock is seamless with the sensor placement and using your left hand.

Here's where it gets weird. I keep the phone in my left hand then use my right hand to type. If I am going to use it one-handed, I hold it and type in just my right hand.

But when it comes to using a pen, everything points to it being easier for me to pull the pen out with my right hand and use my right hand to write... like I use my right hand to type. But.... it's a pen. I use pens with my left hand.

I have to decide if the whole swapping around pen/hand thing is worth it. Sometimes I wish I was completely left handed.

In any case, it sounds like there are no deal-breakers with lefties.... like bad palm rejection using it to write left handed.

Yes, that is very odd that you hold with your left and do things with your right. I definitely prefer it the other way around. As such I pull the pen with left hand and write with it per the norm.

I know what you mean about us lefties being able to do things multiple ways. I bat, golf and play guitar right handed. I play hockey and tennis left handed.

I always just assumed is was part of that whole superiority thing! :)

You can change the layout of the screen so it flows from right to left. You will need to go into developer options and the RTL setting.
I don't know how much help it will be but give it a try. Have a good day

thank you so much! I accidentally did this and then reverted because it freaked me out. afterward I was wishing I hadn't because I actually liked it. now I can have it again. I'm right handed, but the phone hurts to do things one-handed and having the icons on the right is very convenient.

As a left handed person, in order to get the pen out I hold the device in my right hand and tap push with my left. So, I'm then able to carry on as if it's a real pen, lol.

One thing re the pen though, I find I need to use it with the soft nibs, cos the firmer nibs seem scratchy. I've put that down to a gravity thing, which you'll understand cos not all pens flow for us the way they do for a right (wrong) handed person; and my downward pressure is that of a left handed person slope wise. (I don't write backhanded)

I'm somewhat ambidextrous when it comes to how I do things generally, including how I use/hold the phone, so like a lot of you have already said, the phone itself doesn't present me any user issues.

Lefties tend to be a very flexible lot, imo 😁

(As an aside, the first time I sat next to someone writing Arabic my brain had some sort of shift, and it was like it recognised that that was how I, a left hander, should be writing, from right to left, in English, not left to right. I can't readily explain it, it was a very very comfortable brain experience)

I think the fingerprint sensor will have better placement for a Lefty don't have to reach across the camera

As a lefty I don't find any gripes with the device. Fps or s pen. It's all a matter of making it work the way best works for you.

I'm not a lefty but am ambidextrous. I hold and use my phone left handed and of course, write right handed. No issues whatsoever for me however the S-pen is probably easier for me to access since I grab it with my right hand.

I'm right handed by birth but being a drummer has made me ambidextrous. I was worried about the FPS and on this but I realized that I use whatever hand is free and set up both index fingerprints. Same with the SPen. I dont even think about it any more. This is such a great phone it doesnt matter.

Although I would rather have the S-pen on the left, I'm happy that I can put the S-Pen air command and edge panels on either side. I keep the air command on the left and the Edge panels on the right. I love the phone and have no problems as a lefty.
