I agree. Actually, when i first got my GNex, there wasn't a working one-click for the CDMA version. I unlocked using fastboot and rooted the old fashioned way through ADB.

A working knowledge of these two things are essential when emergencies arise.

No I completely agree, I'm just saying on a whole I think the new-flasher should have a working knowledge and understanding of all of these things, so that when/if **** hits the fan they don't panic.

I rooted/unlocked through my Mac terminal, and relocked twice with adb/fastboot (and the other two times with Wugs, b/c I had to get to FedEx quickly ). I'm definitely a proponent of those skills!
