I've got a Nexus 5X, you've got questions. Let's do this!

How is the camera compared to a OnePlus 2? For quick point and shoot pictures using both phones' "auto"/default mode, which would you say is superior?

Maybe not a question specific to the 5x... Where are fingerprints saved? On the phone exclusively, on a server?

*puts back on aluminium hat*

Another review (Ars Technica maybe) said that they were only stored locally, so no concerns about a cloud hack costing you your fingerprint data.

The UK OP of the other big thread said the stock camera app is pretty bare - bones (coming from an S5).

Any camera apps you recommend, or does this one have all the features?

I didn't look at the 5X photos (thread) er.. blog ;)

Hi.
I have two questions.
1. Does the Nexus 5X have the option to shoot 1080p video at 60fps?
And yes, I know it can shoot 4k at 30fps. I contacted Google, and that's all they could tell me.
2. I was told the Nexus 5X has a mono speaker. Does it record video and audio in stereo though?
Thanks.

Hey Russell, on Verizon, does it check for a tether subscription or is it like the X Pure where you can tether without a subscription check? Thanks.

Nope it definitely doesn't.

I've had mine for a day and i'm not sure I can keep it. Lack of Qi is killing me already. Wires are stupid ways to charge things.

Is that a big deal? (that's not a rhetorical question, I'm genuinely interested)
I'm in a same boat migrating from N4 but I'm thinking getting rid of all the qi thingamabobs I got scattered around the house and plugging the phone in for just one hour each day cannot be bad.

For me it is.. I really miss it already. Going back to a wire is just horrific.

I built a Qi charger into both my bedside table, and also the coffee table in the lounge, I also have a normal external pad one on my office desk, one at work on my desk and one in the car..

I usually just lay my phone on them and its always near fully charged.. today my Nexus 5x is currently at 33% (I took it off charge at 8AM this morning - Its currently 3:43PM in the UK.) and I've only used it the same as I would the Nexus 4..

I think with my usage pattern im going to have to buy at least a car charger, and another normal charger for work.. which with the stupid USB-C works out expensive! I'd rather have been able to re-use my many Qi chargers.

For me it is definitely more of a big deal than I thought.. Is it enough that i'm going to return the phone.. probably not.. however.. would I buy it now given that I have experienced what its like to go back.. No I wouldnt.. I'd get an LG G4 and the Qi back for it.

If I had invested that much in Qi, I never would've bought any phones that don't support Qi. Personally, I have a Nexus 6 and with its curved back, I've given up on Qi already (sometimes would wake up to only 70% charged battery). Can't wait to get the Nexus 5X (waiting on funds).

To be fair neither would I if there was a good option with Qi and vanilla android with updates.. I'd have stuck with my Nexus 4 if it was getting Marshmallow officially (I wanted to be able to test my apps on it)

That's understandable since you've invested heavily on Qi. I was planning on getting Qi after I getting a 5X but now I'm going for getting spare cables, (I also hate the damned things) but that's what we have at the moment.

For me the cable versus Qi is not a big deal but I get that it can be for some people if they have invested heavily in charging pads, furniture with it built in etc. That said if it's going to limit the choice of phone you can buy then I'd deal with the lead. It looks like Type C is going to be the norm going forward and having to buy new leads is a minor pain (the one that comes with the 5X is only a measly 1M long !).

These just arrived today: USB 3.1 Type C to USB 3.1 Type C Cable by MediaDevil: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics to use with the 5X charging socket and Cable Matters® USB 2.0 Type C (USB-C) to Type A (USB-A) Cable in Black 2m: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics for the car charger. Both seem like good quality products and having a 2M cable just makes like so much easier.

Like I say it's horses for courses but there's a couple of recommendations if anyone is looking to cables. Oh and delivery was about 2 days.
