I've got an AT&T S6---Ask Me Anything

Thanks very much for this Thread !

My question will require a few days- I am curious if with Sync and Location OFF and brightness at indoor legible but maybe 20 -25%
and on LTE you think you can get about 6 to 7 hours SOT with mostly Web Browsing 1 hour calling and some emails etc. and a few pics ?
Thanks again and congrats on the Camera - is it wowing you ?

Anytime. Glad to help.

I think that might be stretching it, especially now with this being so early in the phone's life, but I wouldn't rule it out after an update or two to optimize further. I'm actually pretty pleased with the battery life so far and hopefully this weekend I can push it a little harder and share my screens with you guys. A few people have this variant already and posted some really good first charge cycle screens.

As far as the camera goes, I've run out of words that describe how good it is for a smartphone camera. The auto mode generally takes care of everything and allows you to just point and shoot. That's the reason people love the iPhone cameras. Now Android has that, but better.

How many ATT + Samsung apps would you consider bloat? How many did you disable? Thanks.

I'd say between 30-35 total. I disabled 25 so far. That's all the AT&T stuff, YP, Lookout, Keeper, S Voice and S Beam, etc. The reports of less bloat were greatly exaggerated, but a lot of that is just carrier garbage. Disabled, but not gone. Doesn't drive me nuts anymore, but I understand why it does some people.

Have you messed around with any themes? If so what do you think so far?

I used the Space theme for a short time. It changes the color of the stock apps, the notification tray, the settings menu, etc. Icons are different, widgets are different. I think they could learn a thing or two from HTC's implementation, though. Overall, it's still solid. So many complain about Touchwiz that this only makes sense.

Are we all in agreement that the first person to put a flawless Google Now Launcher theme in the store gets as much beer as they want?

Yeah, that'd be dope. PBR for the man/woman who does.

How's the cell phone reception on AT&T network compare to your last phones?

So far it's looking good. Keep in mind my most recent device was a Nexus 6 from Google Play so it wasn't provisioned for AT&T. I noticed that I was able to hold a call through a dead spot on my drive home that typically my Nexus would drop. No complaints as of yet, but I'll be all over the place this weekend so that should help determine it better.

Thanks OP

I believe the M9 is similar by comparison. If you're on the fence about the Edge and the money isn't the issue, I think the 64GB S6 is the sweet spot.

Having 22GB of free space should be sufficient for most. I opted for the 64GB storage level as I knew I would rather be safe than sorry. Having two BB gift cards and selling back two phones makes it an easier decision.

Congrats on the new phone. Ordered my AT&T at Best Buy and will have to wait until Friday.

You'll be joining in soon enough. You also get a free wireless charger out of the deal. Not bad at all.

How's the battery holding out?

I won't be posting any screens for awhile, but I can tell you I've been happy with it so far. I think our friends with the T-Mobile variant may have gotten the short end of the stick (for now).

I imagine that it will take a charge cycle of two to get a good bead. By the end of the week, no swappable battery or expandable storage. No problem. Don't even miss them. That's my bet.
