Re: I've got an M8, you have questions. Fire away.

Why is it whenever an HTC flagship launches AC posts several pages of reviews, news, and other BS nobody but HTC fanboys care about? We didn't even see this sort of fanfare for the S5, as usual. Honestly, I know Phil hates getting the old "HTC paid AC again" comments, but this is the 4th flagship in a row that has gotten probably double the publicity of any other flagship, and this is exactly why people say this.

So....who is the big HTC fanboy pulling the strings behind the scenes? Is it Phil? I know his knees buckle every time he gets a new HTC in his hands.

Also, in case anyone was wondering....THIS is why Android Police has so many more faithful users and gets much more publicity. They aren't biased towards the one OEM that has caused more issues and added more bloatware and contributed more to delayed updates than any other, historically.

Now please find another device to talk about, already!! This was already reported to death before the announcement, and now it's just a reiteration of all the same stuff we already knew and didn't care about.

Do us all a favor and keep this same rant ready so you can just flip the brands in a week or so when the onslaught of S5 coverage is overwhelming. It will save you the time from typing it out again. Seriously, your entire rant is pointless. It makes perfect sense for AC to talk about a phone people can actually go spend their money on right now. The S5 is not available for purchase. I for one am glad that AC is providing wall to wall coverage of a phone I could go spend my money on today. There is also an above average chance that there may be an Embargo on S5 reviews and such.
Why does AC cover the Nexus 5 so much when it launches? Why does AC cover the Moto X so much when it launches? Why does AC cover (any high profile device) so much when it launches?

Fanbois are the same all over. One kind word about the competition is one word too many; a million kind words about their beloved are a million too few.

Re: I've got an M8, you have questions. Fire away.

How in the hell did every single person misread my post to assume I'm a Samsung fanboy? lol They aren't any better. I just used that example because there seem to be 10x as many Samsung sheeple as there are HTC ones. I don't care about seeing any Samsung reports. I don't care about seeing any reports for any one manufacturer. I just care about coming to a website and not seeing 5 pages massively flooded with reports for one phone. Seriously, if you want to report on a new flagship, that's GREAT!!! I'm not complaining about that. What I am complaining about is looking through the news posts for the last two days and having trouble finding reports based on anything but one device. In the future, it may be a much better idea to stick to one blog post for the specs, and one for the hands-on. We don't need a post related to the HTC play store apps, a post for the camera, a post for the case, a post for hands on, a post for the announcement, a post for the unveiling, a post for Phil's opinion, a post for each Andrews' opinion, a post for Jerry's, a post when they release a new color, a post when it's on preorder, a post when it's finally on sale.....get the point? This steaming pile of crap phone has been crammed down my throat for months, and I'm extremely tired of hearing about something I knew I didn't want before it was ever rumored to be in existence.

TLDR: Say what you have to say about the damn phone, then shut up about it!

Re: I've got an M8, you have questions. Fire away.

Is the M8 camera good enough as an everyday camera? I dont have time to mess with settings or mode. I just want to flip it out and click and put back in pocket. Kids pics and vacation or weekend outings. Maybe do post editing to a few. Then upload to PC. Will the M8 be sufficient for what i need?

Re: I've got an M8, you have questions. Fire away.

Is Q& A over? I wanted to know whether it keeps two great features I use all the time that were on the last two generations of HTC flagships:

1. The awesome little-known headphone amplifier (that was answered "Yes" by Alex Dobie)
2. HTC Media Link HD support? They talk about HTC Connect, which is similar. I reckon would stream to the Media Link HD over DLNA, but would it mirror the phone and put it in landscape like the current models do?

One other thing I like about my current EVO LTE is it will let the standard launcher "rosie" auto-rotate betwen landscape or portrait when a car dock is connected. That was absent on the M7 :-(. Anybody know if that works on the M8? I can check it when I get my hands on one because I have a special USB cable that connects to the port as a car dock.

WOW!I can't get in to do an upgrade. I hope Sprint spent money on system people (not Web based) or their phone upgrade traffic is bugging out!

If you want to rant about objectivity why don't you open a thread about it? Fortunately for you I wont be joining.

You are basically just opportunistically taking advantage of a very large audience to vent your personal BS which nobody gives a crap about. At this point the Op should boot you for at least being way off topic. If there is anything to be upset with the Ops about its that you're still here.

I was actually quite interested in the intended topic until you poisoned the content and seemingly ran off the Ops. Many thanks. Gees.

Re: I've got an M8, you have questions. Fire away.

So let's see here:

Same 4mp sensor (2014 launch.........)
OIS removed
Inconsistent, gimmicky bokeh processing (will get old, fast IMO)
No multi-colored LED
Huge HTC logo exists solely for branding. Makes the phone unnecessarily long (why, HTC??)

I am not picking it apart, but these are some questionable decisions by HTC. I'll stick with my GPE M7, which will be supported just as long.

Shame because I was ready to go...but not at $700 for the same image quality. Oh well.

You need to read up on why they don't need OIS and also, I've seen plenty of people say the image quality is clearly better (and posted photographic proof), also do you really think they extended the phone purely to fit a logo? I get it if you guys want to feel better about not buying the latest and greatest but the misinformed criticisms are getting old.

Let's see. The camera module is new, a redesign from the M7, not to mention the duo feature. OIS was addressed by the poster before me. The LED is multicoloured according to reviewers that mentioned that they've seen two colours so far. And last but certainly not least, is the fact that the bezel is there because of space limitations within the phone, not for the sake of just putting a logo there. HTC corroborated that them selves in interviews.

I'm not defending it out of fanboyness, as I'm readily open to whatever else gets announced before my upgrade this summer (though the M8 is the frontrunner so far), I'm just pointing out that you are rather misnformed on several key points about the M8

Thanks. I currently use an HTC One S which incidentally isn't even listed as being supported but it is and works great. Plugging in a mouse when using TeamViewer to control my pc works way better than touch screen. I was concerned with with addition of the SD card coming back they might have thought USB OTG would no longer be necessary.

These are the 2 criterias that i am interested for HTC one M8

Unlocked and be able to change official from time to time with OTA updates.

I am assuming that GPE, ATT, DEV, and UNLOCK Version can all be unlocked.
But GPE, DEV, UNLOCK may be bootloader unlockable.. ATT is a maybe..

So question is which one can be flashed with OFFICIAL ROM from say ATT, or GPE or DEV versions??

Had an AT&T HTC one M7, unlocked the bootloader and flashed the official GPE rom on it with OTA.
Don't want to root, and recovery, etc on it..
just want it like it came fresh from factory rom...

Which one would be the best one to get like it came from the factory with using recovery...
DEV flash everything? or GPE is the best way to go?

Re: I've got an M8, you have questions. Fire away.

Hey, can someone who has one in hand finally fill out the rest of the notification LED info? All we know is that it has red and green and they may not be very visible. Is it RG, RGB, or RGBW, do we get combined colors, are they visible from different angles and from a distance? Thanks.

The notification LED on the M8 is actually way more prominent than the M7, no way you can miss one coming in, can see the flashing from a distance, can't say yet about a lot of different angles but given its prominence this time around, I think it is viewable from a lot of angles...

Does the led flash a new notification while charging?

Re: I've got an M8, you have questions. Fire away.

I assume there's no purple tint in low light when using the camera as in some models on the original One (M7). I had two HTC Ones with this camera issue and finally today I sent it directly to HTC for repair. Waiting crossing my fingers it will be fixed. I'm thinking of upgrading. I love my HTC One.

Probably too soon to tell. Hopefully it's resolved since they are using new camera modules correct?
