I ordered the galaxy tab 10.1 on the first day it was available for J&R pre-order, back on May 18th. Here is the listing description.

Samsung GALAXY Tab 10.1" PLS Touchscreen 32GB Android Tablet - Black

Note that it says that I have the Black version on pre-order. Since that time, Samsung announced that only two colors are available; white and grey. There is no Black version. So I wonder what will be shipped to me. The people at J&R don't seem to have any information at all about the actual product, when it will be delivered, much less what colors are available. I am inclined to believe they have no more access to the tablet than any other retailer, and the preorder doesn't really mean anything except that they will ship a tablet to me whenever they happen to get one. I'm thinking about cancelling with J&R and just ordering from BestBuy, where the description of what I am ordering is clearer. At least we know Samsung intends to ship to BestBuy asap. It us unclear when J&R will get anything.
 
FWIW, the Samsung GT microsite still shows white and black options. Perhaps the cellular options will be black.

I had a pre-order in with J&R also. As you mentioned, they didn't know much about the product. Shipping dates with J&R were "late June to early July". When I saw that Amazon was offering pre-ordering, I cancelled my J&R order and ordered it from Amazon. As a "prime" member I get free 2nd day shipping with Amazon and J&R was charging me $30. So, that was $30 back in my pocket.

Amazon is just showing the grey/black version. No mention of the white version either. Not a problem for me as white looks to "Apple like" for me :p
 
Um I called J&rT customer service today and they said they are recieveing shipment on the 17th. U guys do whatever u wanna do but, BEST BUY IS TOTALLY AWFUL. I WILL NEVER EVER BUY FROM THEM AGAIN for a very good reason.

About a year & a half ago my fiance and I decided to buy a 47" tv from best buy in hartsdale ny. We got all excited, borrowed his parents van, walked into the store, picked out a tv, the cables etc, payed for it after they made us wait around for an hour (and it wasn't even a weekend it was like a random Wednesday night), pulled the car around and best buys employee attempted to load it in the van for us. When it wouldnt fit vertically he asked if it was okay to lie the tv on its back. Since we hadn't ever bought a tv of this magnitude before, we had no idea u couldn't lay it on its back. We left bb seemingly happy and gingerly drove home.

Upon carrying in the tv we took it out of the box and Lo & behold the tv was severly broken, not just a crack because it was layer wrong, like the screen was shattered and so severly moved u could see it shifted off the glue strip that held it into place. My fiance was frieking out but I assured him everything would be alright, we had just left the store we had the receipt, we would bring it right back and be fine. I couldn't have been more wrong .

I immediately tried calling bb to make them aware of the situation so they could bring up a replacememt. I called and called and called... It just kept ringing and ringing and ringing. We got there and farther if back thru the door and the employee who was standing at the door when we left was still there.... And he said AND I QUOTE "boy we have been getting a lot of cracked tv's back lately-we must have gotten a bad shipment. We brought it over to the counter , gave them the receipt, explained what happened, showed the sever damage that there was absolutely NO WAY we caused, and the manager was a complete ******* and basically refused to do ANYTHING. He wouldn't return it, he wouldn't Exchange it, he basically told us to talk to the manufacturer and go **** off. The manager was incredibly nasty to us and then proceeded to tell the same thing to ANOTHER COUPLE that was behind us who ALSO had a cracked tv!

We couldn't believe it, we had the reciept, we were there not 20 min before but best buy was being completely unreasonable. We actually ended up leaving the tv there and calling the cc company and walking out.

When we got home we couldn't believe how we were treated...I mean we thought COMON this is best buy ... Perhaps we just got a bad store manager/bad location. So we called corporate where we spoke with someone who promised they would help. After giving them all the info, they said they would call us back the next day after looking into the issue . The next day came and went, no call... We called again... Left messages for our rep, no answer, we spoke with a supervisor... No answer .

I finally decided I had had it and contacted an old friend who is actuallly the AOM OF THE REGION...someone who I used to drink with, someone who's couch I crashed on and he basically gave us the shaft.

All we kept hearing is BEST BUY HAS NO OFFICIAL RETURN POLICY AND THE TEXT ON THE BACK OF THE RECEIPT IS NOT BINDING.

I realized best buy cares not for thier consumer but for thier bottom dollar.

I will never buy another anything from them ever again so that's why I chose j&r. They have a time tested name behind them and they r NOT BEST BUY!

I probably would have punched that manager in the face and went to prison. You are definitely a better person than me.
 
Oh my god, my fiance was livid. It took him like 8 months to get his money back so we just made a promise to always share our story with others. The poor customer service goes all the way to the top.

I mean its pretty bad when u know the bb AOM personally, and gone to concerts and celebrate bdays etc and even he did nothing.

Well today is the 17th, and J&R still hasn't shipped my preorder that was made on the very first day it was offered, 18 May. They did call me two days ago and said that the item I ordered was discontinued, but they had automatically substituted the new version that has the 3.1 OS installed. Today I called them back and asked if they were shipping today. They said no, they still don't have any yet, but they will be shipping before the end of July. This last bit of cluelessness was the last straw. I cancelled my order, drove immediately to my local Best Buy and bought the 32 GB white model. The pre-order with J&R was just a complete waste of time.
