J1 Mini has a double tap lock on screen when making calls? How to remove?

Does anyone know how to remove this feature. The J1 mini does not have proximity settings to change as suggested for other model phones with this feature.

I think I learned why this happens. The "double-tap to unlock" lockscreen that appears while on a call is due to the phone either not having a proximity sensor (which is the case for the J1 mini), or turning the proximity sensor off (which is possible with some phones in the Phone app, under Menu>Call Settings). If the screen remains on during a call, the lockscreen appears to prevent your face from accidentally pressing any of the onscreen buttons.
