I used to feel the same way but sideloading is pretty quick and easy.

Yep.. once you have the environment set up on your computer... And there are a bunch of how to stuff to explain it all... It's trivially easy to side load... Plug your phone into your computer, run a couple of easy commands and off it goes.

The only tricky bit it's remembering the button combo to load recovery from the little dead Android looking dude screen when you reboot it. (Power and volume up)

Unlike a full image flash, there is no need to unlock either.

If the future monthly updates come out OTA as timely as this one(2 days ahead)then I see little need to sideload.

Check for updates worked well, then it got broken. It's supposed to be fixed "soon."

It works if you happen to catch it while the update is ready for you but it doesn't pull it if it's not.

The world news just issused a warning for all phones affecting all Apple products, Google , Ect and others there is a chyber hack that accesses a inner chip that stores your personal info for passwords banking excetera, advising you to update your device.
Makes me a bit nervous.?

I decided waiting was for chumps and decided to learn how to sideload it now.

After this patch I couldn't connect to mobile hotspot, I had to reset network settings and all is ok now.

Regular Pixel 2 FP sensor has always worked flawlessly and fast with the latest updates

I have a P2Xl, and my FPS also works flawlessly. My phone has all updates available installed.

Still waiting for OTA here in UK. Was still enrolled in beta but unenrolled several days ago and still no update. Wonder why it is taking so long to trigger over here? Did the same with November patch before I upgraded to beta. I am a bit annoyed that this OTA is taking so long to arrive.

Yeah. Ages. In the end I joined the 8.1 beta to get the features. I eventually got the December patch on the beta and am still there now. Even though I am definitely unenrolled from the beta.

This update is wreaking havoc on my Regular Pixel 2 , camera constantly fails and won't recover, minimal fail before.

Bluetooth the big miss with the pixel 2 was acting strangely today, without my watch the car wouldn't connect to BT total fail for driving .
And just odd behavior that didn't exist before.
Restarted 3 times today never done that before.
