Could HTC skip 4.2 and go straight to 4.3

I heard some news about 4.3 coming out soon. It didn't say what phone will get it first or anything just said coming soon.

Sorry, but hasn't it already been confirmed (weeks ago now) that 4.2 is already out and that the carriers are primarily the holdup at this juncture?

Regardless, we don't even have 4.2 yet... I wouldn't be holding my breath for the release of 4.3 any time within the next several months.

Thats always been an age old question going back years. When a manufacturer makes a phone, then Google releases a version of software the manufacturers and carriers take so long to push out the major updates that often times another update has been performed by Google. Then someone will ask if we will skip the previous and go to the latest. Ive never seen it done. Its always in order.

4.2.2 is coming so that's not going to happened.

I can't remember where it was posted, 4.3 is rumoured for 4th Quarter release, which means late December.

4.3 isn't even a big change, either.

Here the way I see it.

(Major refresh).(Major changes, and big and small features that affect hardware).(Bug fixes, and minor new features that generally affect UI)

Example: 4.2.1-4.2.2: Essentially a new camera application, and the ability to hold down the WiFi quick toggle to go to the WiFi settings, among other small improvements.

HTC can forgo 4.2.2 and go with the next version of Android. Is that likely? Not in my opinion. I think they'll roll out 4.2.2 before going to the next version, if they they decide to update further.

The presumption is that 4.2.2 is ready and will roll out shortly. 4.3 will likely take some time, but HTC may be able to do it more quickly than historically due to their involvement with the GE devices, however that doesn't help much if the carriers delay it further.

I doubt it, given that the dual sim version just got the 4.2.2 update.

I am inclined to agree that versions of Android usually aren't skipped. The only way to do that is to flash a custom ROM, in which the most updated ones are 4.2.2.

Agreed. They don't skip versions of updates. This I believe is done to keep everything in order so updates work as expected when performed. Making a jump from 4.1 to 4.3 could and probably would have a bad effect on file structure and supporting system apps, etc that are updated and changed in the normal growth cycle of an OS.

I'm a already seeing leaked info on 4.3 for the s 4 and was hoping HTC would skip 4.2 to catch up to other flagship devices.

They already skipped 4.2.1 for 4.2.2, I don't think they will do the same thing again.
