After looking into the wifi disconnection issue with the Samsung S3 I came across a solution on XDA that works perfectly to resolve this hickup and figured it would be something worth sharing....

- OPEN PHONE DIALER

- DIAL *#0011#

- HIT THE MENU BUTTON AND SELECT WIFI (LAST OPTION)

- TURN OFF POWER SAVING MODE AND CLOSE THAT SCREEN

That's all there is to it and I hope this helped!

What model phone do you have, and what firmware are you running?
This does nothing on an SCH-I535 (Verizon phone) running 4.1.2. It actually trys to dial that combination...

It gets you to a service screen. I tried it and it works on Telus version too. There is a power Saving toggle in general settings without using the numbers... Try that of this won't work.

This works on Sprint, but most carriers have their own codes. On Verizon, you might try ##0011#, instead of *#. No guarantee that will work either, though.

Oh, one more thing: This setting will reset to on if the phone reboots.

Hello,

I tried this fix for my Samsung Galaxy S3 and it worked perfectly. Thank you very much. Is there any way to make the switch stick so every time I reboot the phone it will stay ?off?.

I have a friend who has a HTC One 32 GIG, and he is also is having the same issue with his WiFi and wifi calling as Samsung phones are having. We are both on T-Mobile. When he did the *#0011# it did not do anything. What should he do to fix this problem?
HTC One firmware version 4.1.2 Sense version 5 software number 1.27.531.8

Thank you,
Athan

Not aware of any way to make it stick. If you could disassemble the code, figure out where the default is set, and change it, you could probably do it, but that's way beyond my skill.

As far as the HTC One, I would ask in the HTC One forum. That phone may or may not have an equivalent, but Samsung owners are unlikely to know how the HTC One settings work.

One quick question. I have noticed since I turned off the wifi power saver my battery is draining much quicker. Any idea on how to save my battery?

this does not work for long it is in the jelly bean update 4.1.2 contacted sprint they could do nothing contacted samsung did soft reset then hard reset and so forth did not work it has to do with the jelly bean 4.1.2 and N dual routers

As stated above the "Fix" has to be redone when the phone is rebooted. It is only temporary.

I'm not sure what you mean by dual router, but I have a 802.11 N (and G), 2.4GHz and 5 GHz band router, which would seem to be dual by any description, and have no problems using my GS3 with it.

Yeah, I'm sure he meant dual-band router.
I have an Asus dual-band router and although my phone will connect to either the 2.4GHz or 5GHz configuration, it seems to drop the 5GHz configuration at random, so I just use the 2.4GHz configuration. YMMV.
