Jelly Bean OTA

Few things I noticed: a) the swipe up to activate Google Now from the lower left menu keeps is in line with the the way Google Now works on the Galaxy Nexus. It starts from a swipe up from the lower menu area on the Galaxy Nexus. b) Although the device is definitely moving faster, I have noticed that the launch of Google search is as slow as it is now on the Galaxy Nexus. c) Something I just happened to notice is that the stock Email exchange app on the tablet now has conversation capability. When you look at emails in a list, you see a little number in grey that shows the number of emails connected to a subject. Then when you click on the email, it brings up a window that shows all of the emails that are a part of the conversation. Definitely appreciate this.

I'm trying to find a listing of the new features and changes

Using ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T, Samsung Galaxy Nexus on T-Mobile, Sony Tablet S, and HTC Flyer.

Okay 2 new things I just noticed:

a) the stock email app not only groups by conversation and displays the total count, but it also shows a brief body of the 1st message. I'd prefer it either show the most recent unread or the latest because it's a bit harder to find the specific message you're looking for when you first look.

b) then in the settings, under sync options, they have now added the wonderful and long awaited feature of peak and off-peak times and days like HTC has. Perfect for me who hates to have the phone both wasting energy syncing when it doesn't need to and sending notification alert sounds when I'm sleeping.

Now if we could just set the email search to default search the local inbox instead of going out and web searching the server, which would make searching must faster.

Thanks for the idea. I looked in the Downloads and it wasn't listed there. I've also looked in the root directory, internal sd card root directory and any download folder I could find and I'm not finding anything. Guess I may have to wait until they release it for download and install it via sd card.

As an update I found the download yesterday and put this on my TF300 last night. So far everything seems to be working well. I still need to check and see if it fixed my calendar sync bug.

Thought I'd chime in and say I just got the Jelly Bean update. I'm in Canada.

Everything is working well so far!

I got the update the other day and I must say this is the fastest and smoothest my TF300 has run yet since I bought it in May of this year.

I had to see what all the buzz was about Google Now and honestly I don't see the hype. What's so great about it? I thought it was an app but you have to press the Google search in the upper left to launch and then all I really see is weather. Not that exciting. Maybe I'm missing something I don't know.

check out page two of this forum. I provided some links to setting up Google Now and a few videos. It builds over time when searching and depending on your location.

also, to access it, you can swipe up from the lower left of the screen.

have you tried using the stock browser? Flash is working for me on that.
Not sure about going back to ICS. I'll do some research and get back to you.

My experience:
JB update over existing setup - Flash working.
After Factory Reset - Flash not working

After going to the following XDA Page and following steps - Flash Apps that were not working, are(i.e.-NasaTV, WGNTV). Stock browser is playing Flash. And No Wait Boxes, so far.

[GUIDE] [HOW-TO] Install Adobe Flash Player on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean - xda-developers

Pros or Cons, I'll leave it up to much smarter than myself. But it worked for me.

Hope this helps.

Hi,thanks for the help. Flash and bbc iplayer now working better than ever. I also found this route through the daily telegraph web site who had an article about this issue.

I'm not nearly as tech savvy as all that. Looked at the instructions on how to fix the flash player issue and my eyes crossed by the fourth step. I'm happy with the Ice Cream Sandwich version, anyone know how I can get rid of the alerts telling me I have the new update that wants to install it? I have been hitting postpone but it's getting very insistent now and even breaks into what I'm doing with the update screen.

Hi. Its not nearly as bad as it sounds.
Download the two files. Go to settings/ security/ unknown sources and enable it. The apps appear in the notifications area, bottom right of the screen. Select them in turn and they will install. Job done.

Sorry i cannot help with you question. Good luck

Just a follow on from my previous post to download flash and bbc iplayer.

The telegraph article is entitled how can i watch iplayer on my nexus 7.

It directs you to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1789385

where you can download the flash and iplayer apk files.

I followed this link and found it works well.

regards

Mike

Thanks Mike for the help and someday I'm pretty sure I'll actually have to try to do it BUT I would really rather just stay with ics.

Just because, all of a sudden, Google and Adobe don't play well together and Google has decided to take their toys and go home shouldn't mean the whole sandbox has to go home too. I want to stay and keep playing with Adobe. (they were my friend long before Google came along)

Sorry for the bad metaphor but that is pretty much how I see it.

Can anyone tell me how to find and uninstall jelly bean so it will stop wanting to install? I would rather stick with ics.

Does the stock asus weather app require a service that is no longer available in jb? After my sister in law tab updated to jb the weather app no longer updates. She doesnt have a google account yet so i cant dl from the play store yet. May have to side load something for her.

Mine still works. Try going into the settings to set auto refresh
