Re: Jump ship from Palm WebOS to Android ????
Greetings Android Central!!!
I am a newly created Android user, having just made the switch from WebOS to Android this weekend. Yes there are many many many choices out there for Android devices. I read up a bit here, looked over at GSMArena, and finally opted for a TMobile G2x.
Let me start off by saying, that I loved WebOS. It was very easy to pick up and just use. (Not saying that Android isnt..cause wow..it is too!). What i really enjoyed about WebOS was the homebrew community. If it had not been for WebOS Internals and the rest of the gang, and all their patches and mods and easy to use update system, I'd of jumped ship long ago. I loved how easy it was to "skin" my device using their tools and using skins created by the community. These guys really need to be applauded for keeping that long time sinking ship afloat.
With all that being said..after using my new Android device for 2 days now..what do i like best? The apps! So many cool little widgets and apps for just about everything. I also love that im running current gen hardware. it gives me a little something to chat about with other eggheads at work. I stuck with Palm and HP in the hopes that i might get a little something down the road. All i ever got was cancellation notices (No WebOS updates, No New hardware on my carrier). No wonder I jumped ship...I'm just surprised it took me this long.
All and all...Android is a great OS and enables devices to do wonderful things. I do miss my webOS "cards", but I'm adjusting quickly and loving the ride....it wont be too long before i start saying "WebOS who?"
