Jumping ship?

IMO, the GS2 is better than the photon. The photon is a nice phone, better then the e3d I think. The GS2 has a far better screen, thinner, lighter, and unlocked bootloader. I also think samsung phones will utilize GB better than moto or htc

GB definetly. At the speed the leaks are coming out, and how good they are, i expect it within the next two months. Way before any carrier is even expected to release the s2

Not unless they can figure out how not to get the modem to crash with gb. That is a big issue that keeps me putting froyo back onto my epic.

andrew, you are definetly more tech savvy than I am when it comes to android so could you explain why it's so hard to get a good working modem for the epic? I mean the nexus is a samsung phone and it has GB running well, and samsung has other phones running GB as well.

Is the Photon similar to an Atrix? I just got an Atrix from my employer and it's been quite a pleasant surprise. Sure, the screen lacks the deep blacks and rich color reproduction on my Epic, but the higher resolution more than makes up for it!

Not a big fan of Motoblur or the lack of a physical keyboard, but I'm concerned about Samsung's 480x800 resolution on a bigger screen such as with the Galaxy S II. The 540x960 resolution on the Atrix with the color reproduction seen in a Samsung Super AMOLED screen would just be killer if a company could deliver that (and it would be the phone I'd love to upgrade to).

I wish I knew. I'm not THAT tech savvy. I can do a few things here and there, even messed around with some app development. No way am I cracking into the modems though. One thing I did notice... My radio crashes on my Thunderbolt when I run MR2 or MR2.5 and Gingerbread. I wonder if there is something with Gingerbread and how it communicates with modems. I really like the Sense 3.0, but if I can't use it as a daily driver because I can't make a phone call... than I don't really need it.

What is better, G2 or the Moto Photon? I'm leaning towards the Photon, but don't know much about moto's high end phones.

It's a tough sell...

The photon has hands down some strengths, while so does samsung.

Photon:
-Global phone
-HD docking station
-Greater resolution
-Double LED flash

Samsung:
-Lighter
-Thinner
-Better front facing camera

Personally, give me Motorola. On stock, their stuff is just more stable, plus a global phone.... yum! Motorola releases updates quicker, such as froyo, gingerbread, etc. I want my next phone to last me 2yrs.... I think the Photon can do just that.

One comment I will make about Motorola, HTC, any of these devices that always seem to be a step ahead of Samsung on software releases. Sure they may get them out quicker but it doesn't always make for a good release. Some have been very buggy and given many users a lot of headaches. Not to say Sammy hasn't provided the same problem. So as far as being first out the door doesn't always mean a better product.
