Jumpy/Shaky screen while holding finger on my new S8

Hello,

When I scroll down/left/right in my phone and hold my finger on display, the screen automatically shakes left and right or up and down (depending on how I was scrolling my device). This also occurs while charging and while moving an icon on home-screen. I had this issue previously with Asus Zenfone 3, Samsung Galaxy J7 and a HTC Desire (dont remember the exact model though) and a similar issue with iphone 6 (which was registering that my finger was moving on home button). Is this a software problem or hardware problem and how can I fix this ? I have read on web that many people are facing this issue on various phones. but couldnt find any solution yet. Is this my screen sensitivity/touch/display driver/ battery or something else ? If anyone could suggest something, would be really helpful.

Edit: Exactly the same issue as this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxys...ature=youtu.be but mine shakes a bit less, still annoys me while playing 8 ball pool and other aiming games like angry birds, etc.

Thanks

Video link doesn't work but i think i understand what you're saying. Does it happen only on one or two certain apps or on every time you scroll anything? If you are looking to get it replaced the first thing they'll ask you is if you did a factory reset. If doing that doesn't solve the problem i would get it replaced under warrenty.

Good rule of thumb with these expensive devices, if they aren't 100% working correctly right after you get them take them back and exchange for another one. We spend $$$$ on these things there is no reason to keep one that's not the quality you paid for. Hope this helps.

Hello,

Sorry for delay. I went to service centre and they said that it is normal because of smooth and silky touch and slight movement of fingers. I explained him that it occurs more while charging and he had to take my phone for inspection.
Here is the correct video : https://youtu.be/PmQ2lra4RXU
Is it really normal that your pointer moves while your finger is stable on screen ?

Ok. Seeing that helps. I was under the impression that the whole screen flickered or twitched. That does seem normal some human hands aren't 100% still (unless maybe you're a surgeon.) But I'm glad he's looking at it for you. Mine does the same thing and works fine. Maybe reducing screen sensitivity would help.

My hand didnt have tremors. I agree with you that human hands are not 100 % stable, however, none of my other phones do it. And if my hand is shaking, then it should shake also while the phone is not charging. When I unplug my device, it stops shaking (almost stops), but when I replug it, it starts to behave weird again when I am holding finger stable. Also, this shaking will move your aim pointer in gaming and it really is annoying while play games with pointer moving.

While charging? If this was a Note I'd guess a ground at the EM field emitter but only Notes have that. Oh well. Wait for the tech's findings.

Yes. The technician called me and said that he checked everything in my phone and didnt find any problem after fiddling around with my phone for 1 or 2 hours while charging as well as without charging. Therefore, he asked me to collect the phone after 2 hours and he cannot file a DOA because he couldnt find any issues. This really makes me upset.

Do you mean that your screen shakes too like the video ? Also, how can I change the screen sensitivity without root ? That would be extremely helpful in this case I suppose. However, if nothing helps even after contacting Samsung, I will try flashing a custom ROM to see if its a software issue or a hardware issue.

Btw, in the past, I faced the exact same issue with Asus Zenfone 3, HTC Desire model (dont remember the exact model name), Samsung Galaxy J7 and iPhone 6. In my old iPhone 6, when I plugged in to charging and hold my finger on home button (keeping it stable just like on s8), the home screen automatically moved up and down (i.e the home button detected my finger moving even if it wasnt). The screen normally moves down when we swipe on home button (Reachability function a.k.a One hand mode) and then it goes back up when we swipe again on home button.
With iphone 6, it happened same.. I took it to Apple service provider and they said that phone is perfectly fine after keeping it for 2 days. But still, they changed the home button and display for my satisfaction and the issue persisted.
Does this mean that there is problem with my electrical outlet ?

Just the dot on the brightness slider moves a little for me. Oddly I can't find a setting to adjust sensitivity. Usually there is one. A glass screen protector would reduce touch very slightly but you may have to use a custom ROM.

Do you think that electrical sockets could be a problem for intense shaking ?
If possible, could you share me a video of the brightness slider moving in your screen ? That would be really kind of you.

If you think it's electrical, I would use a different cord and charging adaptor and see if it changes. Mine looks the same as yours in the video. Maybe my hands are shakey. I still don't think it's a serious issue. If you need more precise touches on the screen for games maybe a stylus would make it more steady.

I tried changing cables and adaptors but didnt help but when I changed the socket/wall outlet, it works fine. What could be the cause that it is occuring on only some sockets of my house ?

Electromagnetism? Haven't a clue. Glad it's fixed.

Received the device back from service center. Found multiple hairline scratches on it after inspection of device. Issue still occurs, even while not charging but while charging it increases.

Is there a brick and mortar store you can take it to? Not sure how it is in your country but if you can take it a store and show it for warranty claim they could honor it. In my country there are Samsung brick and mortar stores in malls I can go to for this kinds of stuff.

No, Unfortunately, in our country, there is no Samsung Brick and Mortar Stores available.
