I just bought the 3G Com from Verizon today :-) . So far I like it. Few questions though. Screen protectors. I bought the Zagg screen protector as I've been a longtime Zagg user. Is it normal to have so many air bubbles lol. I pushed most of them out and i still see a little. I've only installed them to phones never tablets. I'm hoping they will go away in a few days. If not I might just take it off and return it. How many of you use them if any? Would you recommend them or not.

Welcome to the club! I've tried several screen protectors and ended up getting rid of then, the Gorilla glass is awesome.

So this is Gorilla Glass on the Xoom?

Yeah it is, has some reflection and loves to grab fingerprints but it won't scratch.

I suggest you grab the new beta of thumb keyboard and check out the app thread as well.

People really need to stop saying Gorilla Glass wont scratch. Because it can. Sometimes easily.

I don't own a Xoom, but my EVO and iPhone 4 both scratched. Plenty of my friends have GG on their phones and have scratches. It's just less likely to scratch. It's not scratch proof.

I have an Evo as well, I don't think its GG. Though I do remember seeing a YouTube of a guy taking a razor and knife etc. to it and not scratching it. That's a bummer though. My xoom is naked and scratch free.

I too have the zagg screen protector, just give it a couple of days and all will disappear, I thought of taking it off but waited as they state with their instructions, its perfect...

It's kind of peeling on the edges so I just might take it off and return it for another one. It might have had some issues when it was installed. Thanks

From the experience I have had with my Galaxy S Vibrant, it never got a scratch. It is true what they say, that they might get scratched but very rarely they do. Regardless, I doubt you will beat your Xoom around anyways, making this thing pretty durable if you are't even a brute with technology.

My Droid X is almost a year old and doesn't have a scratch, and it has never had a screen protector on it. I put it in my pocket with my keys all the time, and it still looks like new. I do keep a silicone case on it to protect the painted parts.

I don't think the EVO and iPhone have Gorilla Glass. I remember reading the Apple didn't want to pay what Corning wanted, so they came up with their own glass.

Edit: I stand corrected, the EVO does, the iPhone does not.

Is this encryption option under security any good? I was looking at it briefly.

Congrats again! Looks like you found another great Xoom site.

Don't encrypt unless you are a CEO or something. It requires a password prior to boot. Then it boots and requires another password, increasing boot times a good bit. If you are planning on unlocking or rooting I wouldn't advise encryption. Its been a pita and I finally wiped when having issues with a kernel and love not being encrypted. Just goto setting and security and set a lock screen.

And screw the screen protectors. I have spent more money with zagg than I care to admit and have enjoyed ditching them

I agree. I dont think the Evo has GG? Nor the Iphone 4? I might be wrong, but I never herd of those having Gorilla Glass. But Ive had it on my Captivate, Dell Streak and now the Xoom and Atrix. And never ever had a scratch. GG is a must for every device from here on out.

EDIT: What's So Special about iPhone 4's Aluminosilicate Glass

Lots of debates. I dont believe the Iphone 4 has Gorilla Glass. Nor the Evo. It might be simuliar, but not the same I dont think. Not to say Gorilla Glass wont scratch, but its gonna be hard for it to scratch. Really, you dont need a screen protector. Also with expensive devices like this, it needs to be babied :)
