Just bought the LG G5 SE, but will a system update also update LG apps?

Hi,

This new G5 SE came with android 6. Will a system (firmware) update to android 7
also update the LG vendor apps as well and are they contained inside the firmware update, or must i update these LG vendor apps separately?

This is my first android phone, so i'm not sure how system updates work on android, or what exactly is updated.

Could anyone that have a G5, confirm. Any help is appreciated.

Depends on how the manufacturer packaged the update. Most of the time, yes, it includes certain 'system' apps. If the app is made available through the Play Store, then it will include it, but will also make it removable and updateable via Play Store.

Ok, i might try updating from android 6 to 7 unless i am forced to update via cable connection from my Pc to phone. I've heard someone say that LG are not pushing updates to all phones, and that a cable connection is forced for some, or maybe for everyone that has an older version of their phones.

If my phone can't find any update, then i'll just stick with android 6 for a while, until i must upgrade to preserve app compatibility for the newest apps. I just don't like cables....!!!

The 6 SE should update to Nougat (Android 7) OTA. Just look for the update in Settings (put update in the search bar in settings) and it should work.
