Just cancelled my Play store order

I don't know where all this hatred is coming from. Preorders opened on what 6/27? They said would be delivered 2-3 weeks? It's only been two weeks. One of those being a holiday short week.

Did you research to see if you could get the N7 via retail? I did not order early from the play store because I wanted to see if there would be another way to purchase. I don't want to start a war, just trying to understand your POV more.

Google really should have given a specific ship date by now. Considering how excited people are for this tablet, just saying "mid July" is pretty lame. It's natural for people to get ansy, rumors to fly, and frustration to flare.

I have a Google Play order, definitely won't cancel it. ASUS has a reputation of having shortages with it's tablet launches.

I tried to cancel mine as well and was told basically the same thing. However, I was told I would have to deny delivery then wait two weeks for a refund.

i was able to call and cancel my order through the Play Store. I ordered from Sams instead where it is cheaper.

Yeah I don't understand the incredible amount impatience being shown. For Christ's sake, they'll be here next week at the latest, why cancel a preorder ?

If you pre-ordered on June 27 - 29, you'll get yours Monday at the latest. UPS and Google ars overloaded. If you cancel a pre-order, you're nuts.

You'll get any pre-orders made between June 27 - July 1 next week.

I am not reserving one until I get a confirmation that my play order is cancelled. I don't need two of them.

I don't really care if I do miss out on one. I cancelled mainly for the principle of it. I have never pre-ordered anything. I think it is incredibly bad form to offer pre orders, charge shipping, offer no updates of any kind, and then stock up local stores.

Lol, you do realize that the industry of stuff like this is based on pre orders? Good luck trying to prove a point hahaha

Looks like my order is not cancelled.......or is it? Check out the double talk in the latest email. You get the feeling that they have never launched a product before.

At this point it is no longer possible to cancel this preorder. Preorder
shipment processing on your order has begun, which means that our shipping
provider is moving forward with delivery preparation.

As an alternative, I'll request that our shipping provider stop shipment
on your order. Though we can't guarantee that our shipping provider will
be able to stop shipment, we'll do our best to submit your request as
quickly as possible.

If our shipping provider successfully intercepts your package, we'll
process a cancellation of your preorder. You will receive a cancellation
confirmation if we're able to successfully cancel your order.

If we're unable to cancel your order, you will receive a shipping
confirmation with a tracking number.

So, I just cancelled my cancellation...lol

I like Google products, but their execution on this has pretty much sucked. No updates, no way to cancel......

This is indeed their first tablet and first major launch.

That cancel issue is common with companies that outsource part of the shipping. Once UPS gets it then it has "shipped" sort of even if it sits in a truck for a week waiting for Google to allow it the final leg. Amazon does this as well. Often within an hour Amazon orders become final. Often these things are already half shipped to begin with since they sit in an outlying warehouse.

Because I ordered from Sam's for $25 cheaper as well as getting the $25 credit, so in essence $50

It sounds like they're basically in boxes, maybe even on the trucks, ready to go.

Don't get this at all. Gave us 2-3 weeks, hasn't been that long and people are canceling? Soooo you want to teach Google a lesson by buying it somewhere else then. They probably get the same $$ per device so don't give a chit. My shipping and taxes are $21 bucks and change (total $270 and change)

I'd have to drive 15 miles to the nearest GS, with my truck that's 2 gallons of gas at $3.50 per, that saves me $14.

I guess if you get $25 off from Sams or Costco or ? plus save shipping it might be reason. But just because some retailers are selling it (in violation of Googles requirements I'm pretty sure) you're going to blame Google?

Makes sense that they start getting the retailers stocked up now, to begin selling after the pre-orders start shipping.

The pre-order process is to insure you get one without waiting in line like at the Apple stores and that they can judge the response to gear up manufacturing for additional units.

The fact that retailers are getting some units means that the pre-order process did not exceed the number of units already available. Judge for yourselves if that's good or bad.

What's so hard to understand about cancelling and picking one up locally? Let's say that Gamestop gets the ok to start selling the day the first pre-orders arrive (local store has plenty to sell). I literally drive right by the local Gamestop everyday on my way to work. Walk in, buy locally (supports local economy a bit), save on shipping costs, and enjoy.

That's a real tough one to comprehend.

I suspect the anger is not because of length of time but rather the perception that if people can get it from non-Google sources before those who preordered direct from Google receive theirs then Google "broke faith". In other words, there is an implied promise when one preorders from anyone that, regardless of when the product is finally released, preorder people get it first. Especially since Google have no special perks or price breaks on the preorder.

Lesson for the future Google - take care of the preorders first and offer special preorder only perks. They encourage buying direct and Google gets a lot more $$$ when someone buys direct.

I noticed you're assuming the store sales start the same day pre-orders arrive. They won't.

I guess what I don't understand is why that wasn't option #1? Did you preorder from google based on the assumption you'd get it before retail?

Haha. Yes that is what mine says. Ships 17th-19th. After realizing I'm saving a good $25 and in essence $50 if you include the credit, I'm OK with waiting longer now!
