And through TMobile, reviews are terrible. Bad battery life, sluggish, camera issues, etc.

I thought this was supposed to be the phone of the year?

I should of kept the pre-order, but thought I wanted to go back to iPhone, mistake.

Now I'm stuck getting the cheaper 128gb model. Hope the 8gb ram isn't a bad thing.

Cheer up, this is a great phone. I admit, there are some bugs to work out as with many new releases. All will work itself out.

I came from an unlocked Pixel 4 XL, and my unlocked S22+ has been great! It took a bit to clear out all of the Samsung bloat, but i'm getting like 7-8 hours screen time.

I'm with you. I'm sure Sammy will produce an update with a lot of bug fixes soon.

As an actual user for a couple of weeks, so far I love this phone. So not sure about the reviews. The only things I would change is the somewhat finicky fingerprint sensor, screen saver or not, no difference. Only thing that makes it work perfectly is moistening your finger or thumb. And the other thing is that don't really care as much for the more boxy, Note type shape. I find the more curvaceous design of the S21 Ultra easier to hold and pocket.

Yeah, I can see the S21 Ultra feeling better.

...

Initially I thought you meant the S22 but the way your post is structured it could be either.

Which phone got the poor reviews?

Did you get/try the iPhone at all?

Which phone did you think was going to be the phone of the year? Could fall either way, depending on which camp one is in...?

Ultra.

I did get the 13 Pro Max. Wasn't my thing.

Im at a cross roads. Looking at the Oneplus 9 Pro, the S21 Ultra or the S22 Ultra.

Can't decide.

I can't speak for the OnePlus but if you're not going to be able to get better than the 128 S22 model definitely go for the S21 Ultra. They're not making them anymore but if you can find a new one that is by far the best for the money. The poor battery life of the S22 is in direct comparison to the S21 Ultra. As for the sluggishness of the S22, I've heard that is only for the first day or so, while everything is loading, updating and transferring. I hear it gets much better after all of that. I haven't heard of any Camera issues per se, except it softens things up a lot. No real crisp sharp edges under many different conditions, especially low light. I've watched a bunch of camera reviews on YT but honestly I can't see the difference in many of them or I'd pick the one they say isn't as good as the other. So personally I'm not seeing it through the camera lens so I'll have to wait and see it in person. Otherwise though I haven't heard of any true camera bugs or issues.

Again if you're not going to be able to spring for the larger S22 the S21 is basically the same device. But hey, that OnePlus might be a beast. I'd have to watch some comparisons between them. S22 vs S21, S21 vs 9 Pro and the 9 Pro vs S22 cause there is always going to be some give and take, pluses and minuses, you just got to pick the ones you can live with.

Be careful trusting those T-Mobile reviews. They are not verified owners, meaning Apple fans can flood the reviews. Check the dates, many of those reviews were posted before people actually received the devices. And some of the complaints are ridiculous.

This. I really wish companies would start implementing a verified purchase type review system. Some people say anything. I've even seen phone reviews before a device has officially been released lol.

If you look at them, they all say that their from samsung.com.

You're going to get various responses from people, positive and negative. You'll just have to try it yourself to determine whether you think it's any good.

IMO its overall a great phone with a few weaknesses.

I personally take reviews like that with a grain of salt. Reviewers, bloggers, and real-life users will all react and respond to new phone releases differently. I prefer to watch a variety of reviews and test out the phones in the store or even in-person with a purchase before I make a judgement call.

Good luck, and let us know what you think of your device! :)

I've seen comments all over YouTube review videos from people who say the battery life on the S22 Ultra is bad and that's giving me pause. I've been kind of wanting to trade in my iPhone 13 Pro Max for an S22 Ultra, but I can't bring myself to do it because the battery life is so great on this phone and I'm seeing it's terrible on the S22 Ultra. I don't use my Z Fold 3 for my daily driver because the battery life on that is also terrible.

True...if battery life is that important, stick with your iPhone (iPhone 12 ProMax, Google P6P and S22U owner)

And you do not have to be a purchaser to post a review on Samsung.com. I almost posted one the other day even though the phone was returned over a week ago and at the last moment decided to wait till I have my new S22U for a few days usage.

I believe battery life is extremely personal. And I mean that in the fact everyone uses their phone differently, sets it up differently, etc. I had a S22U for four days and I ran it full brightness, 120 refresh, and even left it running with 5G enabled even though where I live 5G is a dream and 4G is weak. However, traveling with it, it did jump on 5G with no problems. And I used it, constantly using it to search the net, send texts, setting up all the apps from scratch, you name it, I was doing it. And my feeling was the battery life was acceptable.

Battery life is subjective among Android users. However no one can deny that Apple is the leader in battery life. Their whole eco system is designed to throttle and smooth to get the most out of their batteries. Personally I'm not expecting great things from the battery life on my S22 Ultra just because I plan to turn on all of the high level stuff that will drain the battery but make the phone great. I have about 3 videos saved in my YT account with tips and tricks for what needs to be turned on and off, with all of their disclaimers that I'm only going to get an hour and a half of SOT. It'll be the smoothest, prettiest, fastest device for the time. LOL.

I look at owner reviews , tech articles and YouTube 1st impressions and reviews to do some due diligence however I do not form an opinion or pull the trigger or not based on those.

I also have a play with the instore working retail demo models.

Samsung UK give me 21 days to use the phone and return it for a full refund if it does not tick my wants and needs boxes.

I'm on Day 22 which says it all. ;)
