Hey Guys...
I signed up for VZ on the 6th of July.... the only reason I signed up was to lock in the unlimited data plan. I just signed online and my data package shows "UNLIMITED MEGABYTE ALLOW". I just want to confirm that I got the right plan? I know that it shows "unlimited" but I just wanna make sure it s the same plan that should be grandfathered in the future?

As long as you dont change ur current plan you should be fine...this is 100% subject to change though. VZW can decided to cancel unlimited, grandfathered or not when ever they want(when renewing a contract).

atm, you will still get unlimited data on upgrades.

I don't have any doubt that I will be able to keep my unlimited when when my 1 yr contract is up. Sure, anything can happen, but recent news and past history are on our side. If they were going to can us then I doubt they would be doing things like give unlimited tether perk type stuff to us, also, there would be a mass exodus if they tried to strip it away. I know I'd gone if they took it. 2gb for $30 is a joke especially when att is $25 for that and has other options for other family members like $15 for 200mb. I'd probably end up on sprint or tmobile (whoever was still offering unlimited) VZW is the best, but they ain't worth $30 2gb.

I must have been under a rock or something. so if I have $30 unlimited data (i got phone march 17 day it came out), then I can add Unlimited mobile hotspot for $30, instead of what they were advertising before tiered data plans that MHS would be an additional $20 but only for 2GB... so seriously I can now get unlimited MHS for $30? that's great! now I can feel better getting a WiFi only tablet!

It's true. But you'll have to call CS to have it added. And you may have to "suggest" the $30/Unlimited MHS/MBBC to the rep since some reps don't know about it yet. But yes, I have it now. So do numerous others here.

How did you get a 1 year contract as of July 6th? Are you on an EPP or some other consignment account?

And as it stands, yes, you can reup for a new contract and keep your unlimited data plan, granted that you still have a smartphone. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT remove a smartphone from your line at any time, as it can lead to you losing unlimited data. You can get it back, but its a royal pain.
