Just curious, why are the earphones which come with the S9 so expensive on the samsung website when

Branding. AKG is a well known brand in audio equipment. The headphones themselves are probably the best headphones that came free with a phone. Though honestly their worth is closer yo around 40USD maybe than the 100USD they're selling for. But that's just basically it, branding. Plus they come with a leatherish case if you buy them separately (at least in my country the ones on display at the brick and mortar Samsung stores do.)

A lot of them are also fakes.

Actually, these are the best included ear buds I've ever gotten with a phone. And once you go through setting up a detailed sound profile with them on the S9, music sounds excellent. Sure, I could spend a lot more but you'd have to to beat these. Not sure if they're $100 good (on their own), but I've heard worse for more money.
