Hey everyone, I just switched over from a blackberry tour to the droid 2 and so far I LOVE it. Do you guys think it was a better choice than the droid x or vice versa? Thanks :)

I made the switch from the blackberry bold (I had the tour before the bold) I think the droid 2 is the right choice for me. I want/need a physical keyboard. The dorid x looks cool but its too big. Some times I think I should have got the droid one used so I could root it and do roms and such. I guess I'll have to wait for the option for this phone one day.

I went from a BB Tour to the Droid 2. What this phone does is exactly what I need. For example, I am going through a nasty custody battle, when my kid sends me a text, I couldn't print it from my BB. With the Droid, I use SMS backup, shows up in Gmail....and I can print it. Love this phone.

mburrell, the type of phone you use and choose to use ultimately is your decision and what you need to have, or want to have.

so i see theres a few blackberry to android users! glad im not the only one. my bb was great but the d2 just does SO much more, and so much more efficiently too.

Cool no problem. I think you should buy a Motorola Razer. It is state of the art. LOL

The Tour is ultimately lead me to Android. I was sick and tired of RIM's crap. The trackball broke AGAIN and I wasn't about to pay an insurance deductible for a phone that was going to do it again.

Try coming from Storm one to the D2. HA! It is like getting what U thought the S1 was supsosed to be.

same here

Im coming from a storm and all I can say is wow! Even the latest rim device running bb os6 looks waaaay behind my d2. No more reboots and trying to decide which app I have to delete when I want to load a new one cause my storm can't stay over 12mb of app memory with more than 10 apps at a time. This device just does, and does it well.

I said that when I went from the storm to a pre then said it again when I went from webos to android no longer needed patches to get basic functionality

Storm2 user.

Yeah, I came from a Storm2. Loved the device while I had it, until it fell face-first on a rock. Defaulted to my old 8830WE BlackBerry to get me through, until I played with the X at the verizon store for half an hour. More intuitive, much more powerful, and more efficient. The only thing I miss from BlackBerry world is a native MSN/Windows Live Messenger client, and Push Email for Hotmail/Windows Live Mail. I would have to say the Droid2 suits me better than the X. It would be nice to have HDMI out, but at least I have a hardware keyboard if I want it.

Check the Market for MSN Droid, that is your MSN/Windows Live Messenger. What I want now is an OCS client (I know Widget Media is working on one, but they're milking the process something fierce).

I am looking at doing the exact same thing. Have you taken your DROID2 out in the sun yet? How would yo compare reading the screen in the sunlight compared to the Tour?

There's quite a few former blackberry users here including myself. You can't go wrong no matter which android. You choose.

Meh, I meant an official client. I haven't heard anything about Microsoft working on one for Android, so that's what I'm disappointed in. I use MSN Talk and Trillian at the moment, so I'm good on that front. Thanks anyway though.

I'm also switching from a Blackberry Tour to the Droid 2. It should be here Tuesday. I can't wait.

I just came from a Droid 1. Their are a few things in i miss from my D1 that i prefer over the D2, but the CPU and Ram upgrades are worth it. Although Motorola needs to bring back the corners. I want my Droid to look more like a 2007 Cadillac CTS not a Nissan 350z. That smooth face plate is ugly and now my phone doesn't fit in my car charger.

Only thing I really miss is the open bootloader and the launcher blur isn't that bad adds a little bit of functionality but is kinda slow plus and all the added boat really slows down what should be a beast
