Just got a Thunderbolt in light of recent Bionic news..

I dont know what you saw in the Bionic reviews that made you go TB instead of it... I mean the TB is cool and all but..I dunno maybe its because I came from the Evo but I wouldve waited.

He's referring to the news that the Bionic is cancelled

I just picked mine up on Friday and am loving it so far. I went straight for the extended battery just to make sure I had no battery issues. After charging overnight Friday night, I unplugged it Saturday around 5am and its still got 50% battery at noon on Sunday. That was with a fair amount of use too and no attempts at battery conservation (screen still full auto, mail, facebook checking constantly, etc).... Plenty of juice for me!

Edit: I do have 4G off....its a bit come and go in my house so it switches alot, so I guess did conserve a little battery :)

This ^^. I got one for a week just to play with it, and in an area where it's roaming on US Cellular at 1xrtt (2.5 G) I was getting well over a full day of HEAVY use. Heavy as in 3 email accounts and over 1000 emails a day, two twitter accounts, 3 news reader apps and all the normal things I do, syncing everything.

I also got over 60 hours standby time out of it.

The battery issues are all just LTE growing pains that you guinea pigs get to help fix. As a trade-off ya'll get grandfathered into an LTE unlimited plan and have the best device on Verizon (for now) to play with :) Buy a spare battery and a stand alone wall charger and never look back.

There is nothing inherently wrong with a Dual Core, however, there is something inherently wrong with a Dual Core with only 512MB of RAM like the Bionic. It simply takes more RAM to keep the second core running to achieve the same results. Even if the Bionic had 768MB of RAM, like the ThunderBolt, it would still have less RAM for programs because some of that would be used to just keep the second core running. A phone would need at least 1GB of RAM with Dual Core before any Dual Core performance advance could be seen over the ThunderBolt. That 200+MB of Free RAM you see on your ThunderBolt would be ZERO on the Bionic. Not good. Those higher spec'd phones are coming, one day. But the Bionic is not one of 'em, IMO. But, I have to wonder where my ThunderBolt is lacking in performance. I haven't found anywhere, yet.

I don't know what task killer or memory monitor your using, but I consistently have about 410-476 free unless I am running a ton of apps. Trying using System monitor. IMO it is the bet for memory, CPU, a.nd ba5try management.

I love the TB. After you own a droid INC battery life is great on the TB. As for the moto bionic and all of the talk of the duel core i could care less. What is duel core with out more rom than the TB(768 RAM if im correct) Moto blur is something i could care less about also.I have used both and sense is the way to go,but root can also change that.

I totally agree. Best phone on VZW for now. That's for sure. I'm not worried about battery issues right now in 4G. You can toggle 4G on and off if it bothers you, which I am doing. Battery issues will be a thing of the past soon for 4G once the impending update rolls out and all will be well.

The Bionic looked neat, but I don't have any regrets getting a Thunderbolt. Plus, if the Bionic weren't canceled, chances are, the 4G data plans would've switched to tiered shortly before its release, so better to have gotten in on unlimited data, I'd say.

Admittedly, though, I really couldn't deal with the Thunderbolt's battery life. I was originally turning off 4G for the most part, and sticking to 3G, which made the battery life decent. But I kinda hated having to do that. When I let it start staying on 4G, my battery was down to 40-50% after 7-ish hours of moderate use (even with a lot of battery conserving precautions taken).

A few days ago, I bought one of those 2750 batteries. At first, I was really displeased with the extra bulk it added to the phone, but after having it for a few days now, it doesn't bother me as much. The battery life, now, is amazing. After the first charge, I had it on Friday and yesterday for about 9 hours each day, with about 1-2 hours of web browsing, e-mail, market browsing, etc., as well as about 5-6 hours today with some mild use, and the battery only just got down to half. Definitely a BIG improvement.

Congrats on your phone. I am sure that you will love it.. I still use mine from time to time and as Jerry said the battery can and will get better as we roll out enhancements to improve the network and correct A LOT of the issues with handoffs and tower polling..

Reply back in a week with your impressions so far..

I've kind of rotated since moving over to android. From a d1 to a Dinc, then DX. Now I have the Tbolt. Both of my experiences with Motorola devices were not as well they have been with HTC/sense UI. I wont buy another Motorola device. But its all based on personal preference/history
