Just got an EVO,need help rooting

I had an Epic and rooted it and Rom'd it to death. Is there an easy way to Root the EVO. It's on 2.3.3

After root is the installing of Roms like the Epic?

I haven't installed ROMs on the Epic, but I'm assuming "Flash zip from sdcard" is fairly universal -- I think it'll be the same.

I agree with Telperion. Zip on card, wipe data, both cache, choose zip and install zip

Your contacts will be there if you back them up and reload or save them as a Google contact. Calendar info, etc will still be there too if saved in Google or backed up elsewhere. Anything else on the SD card will remain unless you wipe it.

You don't mess with hboots. Just the roms. The only time hboot matter was when root came when the EVO was first release.

Power down, pull battery for a second or three, then hold the volume down button and power until the phone boots into a weird looking screen...It will tell you if you're 2.15 or 2.16

They just need to know which version you have so you can get S-OFF. That's all.

OK followed the video and everything went perfect. Now have s-off and it booted to CWM. Turned phone off but cant get it to boot to CWM again. Using vol down and power button.

If you are still on the stock rom you might have fastboot still selected up menu>applications. You can either deselect it or do a battery pull after the phone is already off. Then hold the vol. down then press and hold the power button till ht boots into bootloader.
