just got an s8+ the batt seems to be dead and have tried long term charging any other solutions??

Welcome to Android Central! Did you get this brand new or used? Have you already tried plugging it into a wall outlet and letting it charge undisturbed overnight, then press and hold Power for about 20 seconds to see if it powers on?

If you "just got" it, you wouldn't have charged it at all. If it's new, and holding the power button in doesn't wake it up, bring it back. If you bought it used, contact the seller and ask for a refund - or that the seller pay for whatever it needs.

If it's been your phone for a while and you haven't charged it for a while - what was the state of charge when you put it away? If it was close to 0, the battery is probably gone. If it was around 50% (the proper point for storage), but it's been a year since you charged it, the battery may have died. (They self-discharge a little every month.)

Exactly what you do depends on exactly what the situation is. (It's certainly worth paying for a repair, even if it needs a new battery. Samsung doesn't charge that much for batteries [around $60 the last time I looked] and it's still a good phone, worth a lot more than a battery replacement.)
