Just got Epic, now texts are getting delayed

My Epic finally came today. Activated, rooted and put ViperRom 3.03 on there. All of a sudden, my texts are being delayed anywhere from 10-30 minutes. Strangely, they are still arriving on my Pre (figure THAT one out...), and I notice they get to the Pre immediately and are delayed on the Epic.

Anyone had this problem? It's a real bugger.

I'd just throw it up to the fact that you just activated it. I would shut the Pre off and wait till tomorrow to see if you have the same problem. Sometimes things are quirky for a little bit when you swap phones.

Agreed. When I first activated my Fascinate, everything was a bit delayed for a while, and I even missed a phone call because of it. I'd give it 24 hours and see if you're still having this problem.

I've had my Epic now for a little over a month and from time to time (more often than not) get very delayed texts. I think its more a sprint issue than the phone because I had the same problem with previous phones as well. Very annoying!

That's odd, i've had Sprint for 6 years now and never once experienced this problem.

I had Nextel in 2004 and that was a completely different story. I wouldn't see texts for days.

I had this problem back about a week ago.. Although I've had my Epic for almost two months. We had some bad weather in the Chicagoland area and it caused text messages to be real slow, like you mentioned in the 10-30 minute range. I have the Epic and my daughter is on a Palm Pixi and we both noticed by the time stamps on the messages.

Anyways I called Sprint that night and they had a confirmed 10 towers down in the Chicagoland area and it had text messaging slowed down for about a day.

Might be worth giving Sprint a call just to see, weather can play a factor more than you think :)

Aaaand the problem has resolved itself. Thanks to those advocating patience and calmness :P

Paul, I'm in Chicago as well, but can't recall many text delay issues, especially recently. And those that I have encountered have mostly been outgoing rather than incoming texts. *shrug*

Here's hoping it stays like this! Loving this new phone at a level I never thought I would.

I'm from the chicago land area as well and have been getting delayed text messages from the epic as well. I don't know if it is recent or if it has been on going because I've had the phone since early november. I don't know if it is the phone or the service. Perhaps maybe it is because there are less towers up right now due to the weather and there is more traffic coming in on fewer towers that it gets congested and therefore there are text message delays?

Ya this problem we had was oh about a week ago now.. When we had all those high winds for a few days. Outgoing messages were horrible, 15-30 min delays... Incoming wasn't too bad... It was like a 8-10 hr stretch of slow txting...
