It's a very happy day for this fella. I just got my brand-spankin' new LG G4 finished in black leather. I have it along with an extra battery kit and 128GB Sandisk Ultra Class 10 microSD card.

So, fellow G4 owners. What do you suggest I install on my new phone? Bear in mind my previous daily driver was an HTC One M7.

Oh, wait a minute. You wanted to know what apps to install, and I just realized you said your phone is leather. Sorry. :(

1. A leather G4 won't fit in an Otterbox.

2. As for apps, get Bitdefender Mobile Security. It's worth the money! :)

Key Plus has become my favorite app. it lets you choose what the double press of the volume buttons launch when the screen is off. I have volume up open Google Wallet now instead of QuickMemo. SO USEFUL

I downloaded Key Plus and set it to turn on the flashlight when I double-tap the volume up key.

It's super useful and I don't think I can go back to a device with conventional volume button placements after seeing how useful LG's implementation is.

I just installed it; a couple of notes... you can't override the volume down button, which is OK, and if you override the volume up button, the first time you use it (to say, toggle the flashlight) you'll need to unlock the phone so that you tell it to use the toggle-flashlight instead of the quickmemo+ as the default. Not a big deal, but it's not obvious.

Don't mind not being able to toggle the volume down key. I take pictures often so the camera shortcut is a god-sent to me, along with the home-button camera shortcut on the S6.

I flip between that app (Key Plus) and one that allows me to skip music tracks with the volume up and volume down buttons while the screen is off, called "Pocket Skip Track" or something like that.

A screen protector. I know it is not software. I really like player fm for podcasts.
