12:04, does this mean I wont get it tonight?

I would give it a couple of minutes, as it may take a few minutes to roll out the push to several thousand people even if they did start it at 11:59 or Midnight. If you don't get anything by 12:30 or closer to one, then it's probably safe to say we're not one of the 9,000 :(

is funny to watch a forum full of early adopters eagerly awaiting an alert that might make them an early adopter of the update to the thing they just adopted early...or something.

i am still stunned.oh well, we are still 10 and 2. we got them cardinals last year pretty good. lol

while that might seem logical, Im pretty sure more than 10k people bought Droids on Nov 6 so I don't see that being the case unless the only people who have been alerted so far got it day one in the morning.

I got mine shortly after 10am (as soon as best buy opened) on the day it was released. No update for me!!

EDIT: 10am EST

Are the people getting the early OTA the same people that got t-shirts? If so, I wonder how they got to be part of the "Chosen Few"?

So the Droid Gods graced me...

Got my update at 12:44am this morning/last night.

OTA Upgrade, as stated by VZW/Motorola.

First thing I notice:
Coming from BB Storm, OTA upgrade to your handheld took hours or seconds (anywhere from 15 min - 5 hours), this upgrade took a total of 1 min and 7 sec (I did time).

System upgraded with my approval (got the message) and rebooted, upgraded, rebooted in that order.

We all have read the changes so won't go over that, however, personal things that I've noticed.

*Responsiveness - 10X better. Quicker with everything, smoother transitions.
*Scrolling - Flicking is easier, smoother, more accurate
*Touching - Accurate. I feel I could hit a period and nothing else!
*Typing -
On portrait keyboard: Seems smother and fast somehow. Not sure, maybe I'm just crazy
On landscape keyboard: The same, no major difference, maybe a little easier
On hardware keyboard: Same
*Home Buttons - The same, menu button appears to bring up a "newer" menu
*Apps - I'll list what I have and how its affected
--Weather Widget Donate - Updates fine, widget is sexy as ever. No issues known.
--Dolphin Browser - Like a BOSS. Awesome, works fine with update. No issues known.
--1001 Cocktails - No known issues.
--Camera - Still shady on the picture quality, but quicker response and smoother operation.
--Calvin and Hobbs - No issues known.
--Facebook - Had to re-up/re-sign in and set defaults. Might just be me? New sync icon on top notification bar. Interesting.
--FMLife - No issues known.
--SMS Popup - Works like a charm. Love it still. No issues known.
--Adv. Task Killer - Still killing. Would've liked to see the update make a default way of closing apps..? No issues known.
--Pandora - When skipping a song, shows a "loading" screen as opposed to just waiting. Channel list now has album cover icons.

Those are the apps I have used but there are many more that need to be addressed as well.

Anyone else have any feedback?

I feel the update process is better doing it in shifts. With my Storm, an OTA upgrade would take hours. My Droid OTA upgrade? 1min and 07sec. SICK.

Patience to all those out there who got it. It'll come, I have it, this isn't a hoax.

Some common answers to questions
-You get a pop up notification saying "A new software upgrade has been detected" then you can "cancel" or "update" or "Update later"
-I have not gotten a T-Shirt
-I bought my droid December 1st
-From what I've read, it is completely random (who knows) and they are doing it in shifts/waves. This might be to decrease the chance of their servers going down, or because they like to torture some people. lol

Hope this helps some...

Absolutely not a hoax. I've seen side by side videos of people with two droids and two different OS.

It is completely random. As I said in another forum this is exactly the way TiVo updates their DVR's. You can think it through a million times but it's simply luck of the draw.

Thanks for detailing the notification process.;)
