Hey all.

New to the Samsung watch ecosystem.

Just got the S3. T-Mobile gave me a new number - I guess that's the only way to go - and under settings I see an "auto call forwarding" option, so when I am only with my watch I can get my calls from my main number, is that correct?

1. What happens with texts? Is there any way to get to the watch texts from my main number?

2. Are there any options for FB messenger and whats up when I am only with the watch and not the phone?

3. Cant find spotify's app. I thought there was one...

4. How do I make the phone vibrate and also show a new notification. I can only see the orange dot.

Any other tips will be very appreciated.

Thanks all!

As long as you have call forwarding on on the watch, calls made to your phone will also go through to the watch. The new phone number on the watch will have no effect while call forwarding is on. Texts will go to the watch as well.

There may be apps that other devs have made that will work with messenger but I don't know of any. Same with Spotify.

One of the reasons that I only owned one Samsung watch was because of the lack of developer support, it just isn't there for the apps people use the most.

I'm not sure about your other questions.

thank you so, lets say that i am out walking the dog, if call forwarding is on and my phone is left at home and someone calls me on my main line, i will be receiving both the calls and the texts?

Also, I think you are calling your own number using your own phone. Try using someone else's phone to call your number, it should work then.

yeah i had a friend calling my number with the phone off and i get an answering machine notification on the watch unfortunately

I think i got it working. Question. When it's connected remotely do i get the rest of notifications as well from the phone? For example WhatsApp etc?

Yes, just make sure the apps that you want to get notifications for are checked in the gear app on the phone.

that is brilliant then! if it does all the notifications from my apps i want, is like having a phone without having a phone. i thought it will only forward calls. t-mobile is telling me to forward through the phone options. that's wrong right? thanks so much for your help man

Most of the settings are done through the Gear app.

This is what I mostly used my Gear S watch for since there really wasn't any major app that I could install on the watch.

got it and i was about to ask if there any cool apps to suggest? lol.
surprisingly enough ...samsung has a screenshot of a spotify app on their sales page of s3...

I went searching for a music app to stream music from on my watch when I don't have my phone like at the gym. I would like to leave my phone charging in my locker. So for some stupid reason, there are absolutely NO apps to stream music. Milk music used to work, but Samsung killed it. WTF!?!? What good is a smart watch when you can't stream music? I bet the big three (Spotify, Slacker and Pandora) have something to do with this. I heard Spotify has a little device coming out soon that allows streaming without your phone.

It looks like you got some things figured out, but if you haven't seen it Spotify's app is now available so you can use it independent of the phone. It apparently requires a premium account.

T-Mo is now running a beta for the Digits program that will allow you to use the watch and phone as essentially one device. Your watch will send/call using your phone's number and anything coming into your phone will also come to your watch without having to worry about being connected remotely or on BT. The PC side needs work but the watch part works very well so far.

I've been on the DIGITS program since day one. Unfortunately, it's not a panacea. It's never worked for me, and I've had four tech teams looking into why. Still waiting.
