Just held a Nexus 4 in my hands and....

The first thing that immediately came to mind is that i'm going to need a case.

GET A CASE AHEAD OF TIME!

Other than that, this phone is beautiful.

Thanks. Btw do you know MMA?

Then this google employee seems to have trouble reading, because I basically said people should buy a case ahead of time. If he's been using it for a month with bumpers and has very few scratches on it, clearly he has already taken this advice.:)

You made it seem like the world would end and it would shatter if you looked at it wrong, so I politely pointed out you must not have held an N4 it feels MUCH more sturdy than a GNex, I used mine without the bumper for a good long while and to be honest, didn't notice scratches until after the bumper. I can read just fine, I don't think we have illiterate employee's... that's apple.

Oh I didn't mean that, i think the person who commented afterwards asked that question. I believe the phone is sturdy, yet delicate. If something could be both of those at the same time.

Has anyone actually confirmed the back is Gorilla Glass? Every review site says without hesitation "front and back made out of Gorilla Glass 2.0" yet in Phil's review (and in his videos about the phone) he mentions LG calls it a "glass-like substance".
Matias Duarte said it was Gorilla Glass front and back in the announcement day Verge video. I have no idea how reliable that is, but he's certainly the highest authority I've heard speak about it.

I'm not even taking off the protective back plastic until I have some sort of back protector or case.

So far no one seems to be actually selling front and back screen protectors- just a few preorders...

I've never dropped or scratched up any of my devices but I want to be ultra careful.

Anyway, hope they hurry up and release some good cases and full body protector before the sweaty palmed, butter fingered tech geek drop all theirs and start Nerd Raging, lol! :D

Drops are never planned. That is why they are called accidents. Some sort of clear coat to protect from scratches and a bumper would work. If there is a bumper and there is a screen protector, the glass cannot get damaged until you drop it on something that can hit the glass directly. If it hits the concrete or floor, the glass (with a bumper) is never exposed. So if the impact from a standard 5 foot drop does not have enough speed to crack the glass, a bumper + clear protection on the front & back should be all the protection you need.

Here is a good example of what a bumper can do.
