Just installed CarbonROM....

so far it has been sitting at the carbon logo for about 20-30 minutes and has not changed. The carbon name keeps fading from light to dark though.

How long is it supposed to be booting for?

You have gone into a boot-loop. Go back to recovery, factory data reset, clear all cache and try again. It should work.
