Just installed LG Bridge

To check for an update (that wasn't there yet!), I installed and ran LG Bridge. I know several people have had issues, and I thought I was one of them... but I solved some problems :)

  • The default language was Korean! Yikes. Luckily there's a Settings icon, and that page has a few Korean dropdown. I think the 2nd one was a language choice, and the "OK" button was easy enough to find even in Korean ;)
  • I connected my phone in a USB 3 slot... nothing. Connected in a USB 2 slot, and we made progress!
  • When it comes up with "Media device (MTP)", tap on that notification. You then will need to install the driver (see attached screenshot) by tapping on the 3 dots and using "Install PC drivers"; I think that's the step that others are having issues with.

This was on Windows 7.

Anyways, I was able to get it all working.

You should not need LG Bridge at all for Windows PCs.
Plugging in the USB cord to the phone and Windows 7 should auto-magically work.

Yup, I only did it so that I could check for a software update... there have been posts/threads about G4 updates available through LG Bridge, but not OTA (yet).

Glad you created this thread. Had actually spent quite a bit of time trying to get it to work yesterday but still cant connect. Got it to the point now where it will recognize the connection but ultimately fail to connect.

Connects fine to the VZW software connect tool.

Verizon LG G4 connected to my HP tablet running Windows 10.

I'm getting the same as above: connects to the phone, waits a bit, then says there's no connection. I've tried on both a Win 78 and Win 10 machine with the exact same results. The computers recognize the phone just fine, the drivers are all loaded, but no connection.

T-Mobile H811 verson

Sorry, I have no great suggestions for either of you. I only know that I was able to connect on Win 7 by using USB2 port instead of USB3 (white thingy inside instead of usb3 blue thingy), and by triggering the PC drivers from phone.

Beyond that, maybe it doesn't really matter? As was mentioned by ManiacJoe, LG Bridge doesn't really seem to serve much of a purpose... aside from the fact that there were some users in another thread saying they got their update via LG Bridge and not OTA. In that case, you can either patiently await the OTA update from your carrier, or find the update (or a compatible one) and flash it to your phone -- that's what I ended up doing: with gibmcfragger's help I installed the Telus 10f update for the h812 into my Bell h812, and it worked great.

I just installed LG Bridge on my Windows 7 machine and it won't even connect to the phone! The phone connects on it's own with autoplay.

I can connect to LG Bridge no problem on my Windows 10 machine. Maybe some machines need the LG United mobile driver as well? You can get it here if you don't have it installed and want to try it: Download LG G4 Driver for Windows and Mac (MTP + ADB + Download mode) - The Android Soul The latest version is 3.14.1 as far as I know.

That said, I found LG Bridge to be mostly useless, outside of downloading software updates, which probably only matters if you can't pull an update OTA for some reason. The AT&T update wasn't even available on LG Bridge, so I ended up manually pushing my phone's clock forward to bypass the update lockout timer and pulled the update over wifi.

I rarely if ever used phone connection software suites and LG Bridge offers nothing compelling to change this for me.

Heres a question for you i have the lg V10 tmobile ota hasnt come yet so i tried updating 4 times on the bridge it hits a wall at 37% every time and says your phone cant be updated and no my phone is not rooted never has been is this a tmobile thing or is my phone jacked up also i previously had a note 3 that wouldnt update on kies or ota im starting to think tmobile is worthless

Don't blame T-Mobile. It's PC issues. LG's PC software has always been buggy.
