I've been running the Stock ICS and Jellybean on my HTC EVO LTE every since I got it about a year ago, mainly because it has been running fine with no issues. Battery life was good, operation was snappy, no real problems. The only annoyance I had was the "Optimize Battery" item (or whatever it was called) in the pulldown notification shade. And also the "Beats Audio" icon that showed up in the notification area when I was listening to any audio. However, I decided today to bite the bullet and install the Meanbean custom ROM. This ROM is basically the same stock Jellybean OS that I'm running now, but it has been tweaked with several different improvements for increased speed and battery life.
I had to jump through the hoops to unlock my HTC device, then root it. I also spend a few hours installing the Meanbean ROM, reloading my apps, adjusted my settings, etc. So, hopefully I'll find it was worth it and I don't have any new issues. So far, so good. I really like all the small updates (e.g., better battery indicator in status bar, toggle switches in pulldown notification shade, removal of the optimize battery and beats audio annoyances that I mentioned earlier, free WiFi Tethering, various speed improvements).
