Well the phone was made by LG and that's the product number. Not sure what you are noticing.

It is a E960. LG shows it on the website too.
All their mobiles have numbers and then their "name" which is nexus 4.

you are quite right No idea why I posted that, maybe cos of pre release days when it was rumpoured thatE960 was the new Nexus.
