I just picked up my 64GB Gold Edge this afternoon and have some questions.

I thought my apps would automatically populate once I signed into my Google account but that doesn't seem to be the case. I'm coming from a S4 so had all my photos/music/etc. backed up off my SD card to my laptop (want to do some clean up before reinstalling), but am curious if I manually have to reload all of my old apps?

Phone furiously fast...going to be fun!

When you activated the new phone, didn't it ask you to touch the back of your GS4 against the back of the GS6 to transfer stuff?

Mine did, I didn't have to download anything.

Mine was picked up in a Verizon store and they did everything...except transfer my stuff except for contacts!

I guess I'll end up having to manually go in and download apps again...major bummer!!!

Unfortunately Google still has to fix the experience moving from phone to phone. I feel it would be easy given that they have all the tools already, but apps should be one of those things that your account should know you have and should transfer for you.

What I do is take a picture of my home screen and the folders with my new phone and then go to "all apps" on the Google play app and download the ones I have a picture of. This works for me because all the Apps I use are on a single home screen within folders. The ones in the app drawer are the app I download to use once or twice.

Download Samsung smart switch from play store on both devices. Transfers everything very easily. That's what I did when I upgraded from an S4 to the S6 edge.

I have a verizon S6 edge and during the initial setup it asked to use Smart Switch or just tap the back of my Note 4. Both phones need to have NFC on.

Also when you sign in with your Gmail account it will start downloading all the apps you have from your previous phone.

The Verizon staff set up my phone andn DID NOT USE SMART SWITCH.

As for Google automatically downloading apps like it previously did when I moved from the S3 to the S4...no, it does not automatically download them. Instead they show up when you click the Play Store Icon as "My Apps" but have to be manually selected and downloaded...a tedious process.

Can anyone help???

I don't understand what you still need help with.

You have been given several options on transferring your apps. Smart switch being one of them and if you no longer have the old phone, then the only way to do it is manually by going into the play store and going to "my apps" then "all apps" and installing from there.

Do a factory reset and start over.
