Just Returned My One X

That's what I did, and let me tell ya the radios on the Skyrocket are amazing... It's a real sleeper device, the smoothest android I ever owned

Awesome. Thanks for the info.

Why would I want a last generation android phone when I can have a new one? Don't understand people getting the Skyrocket the One X is miles ahead of any gingerbread phone imo and is better than the Nexus for sure. I didn't want to wait for the gs3 but honestly I think the screen on the One X outweighs the superior storage on the gs3.

Well, so much for the accuracy of the HTC One X reviews on this and other sites!

Because the Skyrocket works and it works very well. My signal on my skyrocket is 65 db in my house and the HTC One was 83, and with the Skyrocket I have no data issues, blue tooth is flawless and wifi doesn't drop out. The one has a great camera and display but the phone is a data dropping mess, I had three of them and they all were horrible. It's a shame but sometimes reliable tech is better than new tech that isn't properly developed and applied. The great thing about any android is you can run your own launcher and lock screen and you wouldn't even know if it was ics or gingerbread.

Well my One X days are now over! Back to a dumb phone until the SIII comes out.

I tried to hang on as long as I could! I really did :(

But still

Sense 4.0 > Touch wiz I am will to be. I will just need a new launcher or root and flash!

It seems that this forum is a small slice of the total One X owners. If it weren't, the popularity ratings on some review sites like Phone Dog would be way down, when in fact, it's been the holder of the most popular phone ranking for weeks. That said, only 300 or so people voted for the HOX but it was far more than even the iP4S or others.

As to the Skyrocket, yes it's last year's technology but not by much. There's no doubt the screen on the One X is superior as well as it running ICS. But like all Android phones, there are ICS roms out there already for many devices including the SR and at a fraction of the price of the One X or new GS3, the SR is still a solid device. And yes, I agree that the build quality may not be on par with the HTC but the fact remains that Sammy has sold more GS2 devices than any other Android device bar none. Somebody must like the GS2, eh?

Seems the 16 gig s4 variants are still buggy, the non carrier Euro quad core units seem to be working fine after the latest updates. ( although sense for me seems a bit laggy, on wake up, this has been put down to it sleeping on the fifth companion core, then the others coming on line, however there is no lag using Apex launcher, which seems strange.) Not sure any mobile running ICS will be perfect out of the box, seems they all need tweaking. The Galaxy s3 is starting to get reported issues. It's a pity the LTE version is only 16 gig has a good chunk gets reserved for the operating system and application data. I have the 32gig version and out of the box only 25gig free for user use. 2.1gig is reserved for apps although like a virtual SD card you can move a large part of downloaded apps to your 25 gig partition and around 5 gig is reserved of the OS.

as an owner of the one x and titan both international versions and both problem free it seems the problem is more AT&T than anything else.highly recommend buying sim free and unbranded.you also get a better price on the contract

Well I've given up. I'm going to sell my AT&T HOX. The multi-tasking issue/non-issue has gotten to me too much.

...and for music, one can use Google music.

Going over your data limit costs your $10 a month everytime you go over it by 1 byte (the carriers go that low to track data usage). That's just for 1 extra gig.

A 16GB SD card costs $20 at best buy and it's forever.

Accessing data on an SD Card cost exponentially less power than accessing it in the cloud over WiFi, HSPA+ or - God forbid - LTE. This also can exacerbate the embedded battery issues for some people - nevermind the GS3 has a bigger battery than the One X out of the gate and it's still removeable/swappable. You can get 64GB SD Cards (class 6 or 10 Sandisks) for something like $60 these days. Really, the Storage is a real issue. There are many people who will not even consider a phone with that little storage, me being one of them.

I just sold an iTouch and a Windows Phone for something that allowed SD Card Slots because I like to be able to grow my storage as my requirements grow. The One X doesn't have that possibility, therefore it's a terrible value proposition compared to the GS3 and that also makes it less future proof in my eyes. At least with an iPhone I can buy a 32 or 64GB model. There's absolutely no wiggle room with these phones unless you either buy the low end model or want to put up with Sprint's absolutely abyssmal 3G CDMA data speeds.

The Cloud isn't always about storage. It's also about battery and data plan efficiency.

Not everyone wants to sign up for yet another account for something as trivial as storage, especially cloud storage that is borderline useless in low/no reception areas and in Airplane mode on a flight. When you're driving down the interstate and only have EDGE Google Music and DropBox will not do much for you. If you go overseas unless you're Donald Trump and have an unlimited international data plan by virtue of your wealth they won't help much there either. There are too many potential use cases that place the cloud and dropbox squarely on their face - it's disingenuous to even pretend it should be "good" enough for everyone.

Same goes for Google Music. I rather have my music on my SD Card. If you're gonna cache a tone of music offline, you're better off just putting it on the phone to begin with. Google Music is like any other cloud services and suffers the same drawbacks as any of them, especially if your music is encoded at higher bitrates (i.e. 320k MP3s instead of something like 196k WMAs, etc.). I have tracks that are bordering on 20MB in size, and many over 10. I'm not going to stream that kind of data when there are phones available with significantly more storage [possibilities] for basically the same price.

The fact that the GS3 camera is so good seals the deal for me.

TW4 is ugly, so I'm using a Vivid until the GS3 launches. At least that phone has ICS. All I'll have to do is pop my SD card in it before I leave the AT&T store and I'll be set.

The only One X 'a that I've seen have been on at&t and I can assure you that none of them multitask even a little bit. Considering it is 2012 and that this is a high end ANDROID smartphone, HTC should really be ashamed of themselves. Each owner should be given the option to multitask or not.

That is a bit of a stretch don't you think? Other then syncing Evernote when I was first setting up my phone, mine multi-tasks just fine.

So the phone does multi-task.

It is not a bit of a stretch. Every at&t One X that I have seen doesn't multitask worth spit. Every single one I have seen has been absolute garbage in this regard. Now if yours does multitask then you must have a defective one that is not working the way HTC intended it to..... consider yourself lucky.

For those [in denial] who insist the one x multitasks fine, please do this for me:
1. Launch the stock notes app, compose a random note.
2. Tap the home button, launch the camera app, take a few pictures.
3. Launch the email app, view an email.
4. Switch back to the notes app.
What happens? Is it where you left off?

I agree the HOX doesn't multitask as it should on ICS or GB etc. I think HTC went overboard with task killing on the phone. They need to update the phone and give us true multitasking, will they do it I hope so. If not I will just flash a custom ROM that does. I still think the HOX has way to much going for it for me to jump ship for the SG3. I have been burned by Sammy and updates in the past and TW ICS version that I used was terrible.

The note it is still there. I did notice that note auto saves as soon as I leave the app. As soon as I come back the app refreshes for like a split second and the note still there where I left it. It maybe a different story with the text messaging app but I rarely text so I have not notice.

I think mine will be joining yours shortly. I get really poor battery life. I am losing 10% an hour. This is even after a reset and only adding my google account. I have changed no settings or installed any other apps. I did turn off auto-brightness and set it to about 33% and turn off wifi after the first hour. But it is still dropping.

I really, really wanted to like this phone. Even the poor multi-tasking didn't bother me that much. But I can't keep a phone with this poor battery life and no removable battery.

It saves the note upon exiting, so mine was still there. It took me back to a blank note, but hitting the back button showed me the note I typed. I did all the steps while listening to Pandora too. I have yet to get it to delete a text or note that I typed after opening 4 apps, a game, settings, email, web browser, etc. Have not tried the Pandora with a phone call yet, however. But I just bought my phone on Saturday, so this is day 3 for me and I have yet to see the multitasking issue while TRYING to see it. Anyone have any other methods to see it? I want to make sure mine is fine while I have the 30 days to try it out.

Also, I was connected to wi-fi most of the first day and didn't see any issues with it. It also doesn't lose signal like my last phone on Tmobile did. So far, I am happy with this phone but I want to thoroughly try it out before taking it past 30 days.

Followed your steps, and notes was exactly where I had left it.
