ShootMe is a good screen capture app. Also, check out backup programs such as Titanium Backup and My Backup.

Could you explain or share a link of what you can actually do when "exploring" your phone? Is this an app more for the code enthusiast, or something we all could benefit from?

Everyone can benefit from the ability to view the file system, you dont have to be interested in modifying system files. You can use root explorer to copy and move files around your sd card, which comes in handy if/when you start downloading stuff to the phone.

Correct. Its a File Explorer program that lets you see all of the files on your phone. You can delete the bloatware that way also. Or Delete apps. Or Edit the build prop to change certain settings. Move Stuff around Etc. But dont worry about that right now. Its not safe to do that unless you know what your doing.

For tethering I'm very happy with Wireless Tether for Root Users.

AT&T doesn't allow a download. However, you can do it this way. Put your phone in airplane mode. Then turn on wi-fi and go to the Android Market web site. You can download anything there, include the app I listed. That's what I did.

Do you have a tethering plan? I don't have one although I do want to tether nd I read that att recognizes that you're tethering your phone and automatically charges you that plan

I've heard that sometimes they can catch you, but I don't think that is always the case.

AdFree is a another nice to have. Blocks almost all advertisement and saves on bandwidth and load times. Also, regarding AT&T and tethering, I have a rooted N1 and have had no issues with casual tethering for the last year or so, and they've never bothered me. I don't abuse it though.

Not abusing is the issue, I agree. I seldom tether, but there have been times I really wanted to be able to use the internet on my laptop or iPad 2 instead of a small screen (even the Infuse's).
