Just switched from an iPhone X

Tried a 2 XL, now back to the iPhone X.

Camera on the Pixel is better, iPhone blows out the highlights sometimes.
Blue tint on Pixel didn't bother me but no way the screen is as good as the X.
Notch doesn't bother me.
I found battery life to be similar on both, maybe a little better on the X.

Both are good phones, it just depends on your preferences. I didn't want to give up iMessaging and just found my life simpler to remain in Apple ecosystem. Not sure which I would choose if I never owned a phone before or was coming from Windows, Blackberry, etc.

Yeah I think that was during the honey moon phase lol I still think the Pixel's camera is weird, like I don't get the picture I think I'm taking but that's a good thing. Machine learning is also awesome.

I thought you went from the X to the pixel and back to the x? Thought I saw you over in iMore saying that. Can’t keep up with everyone including myself! One day I say I’m keeping the X the next I want a pixel. Had the pixel 2 XL and went back to my X. Just don’t know what to do! It’s a constant back and forth

Yeah I did flip flop a few times but decided to just sell the iPhone and haven't looked back. My Sister in law has one now and her pictures can't stack up to mine.

Is that the sole reason to get a pixel though and trade off all of what Apple offers? That’s my struggle. The iPhone camera is excellent, but the pixel is better than excellent. Def can live with an iPhone X camera but the perfection of the pixel camera is impressive.

You haven’t been plagued with the blue shift? I had a hard time dealing with it when I had the pixel 2 XL for a week

It's funny my wife who is not into tech and doesn't read all the blogs I do mentioned my screen looked blue but I don't notice it much. I'd say it's there but it's not a deal breaker for me. Giving up the ecosystem was easier than I thought and yes the camera itself is almost reason to switch. Being a green bubble kind of sucks but aside from that I have had zero issues. My wife has the 8 Plus and tells me every day that she had a different issue. I can see myself keeping this until the fall.

Interesting that it bothers some and not other techies. I’m all about screen quality so it’s a deal breaker for me and I thought I could deal with it but I can’t pay over $800 for a defect like that. It’s not acceptable to me especially on a google pixel. I don’t want to give up iMessage or FaceTime, that’s when I settle back into the whole I’m sticking to the iPhone. Then when I see so many techies going to the pixel I get curious what I’m missing out on!

On thing I've noticed is scrolling sometimes looks bad. Like I'll see the image kind of stretch it's weird but only seems to bug me on the Facebook app. I'd say stick with the iPhone for sure. I think it's superior in a lot of areas but for me the Pixel works amazing and the camera is in a class of it's own and I take a ton of pictures of my kids and dogs and wife.

Agreed! @Jtshurtleff No disrespect, but I read that post as well over at iMore. Your opinion of phones seems to change like the wind.. :p
Yeah they change as I use them more. I loved the iPhone X until I didn't. The Pixel is the opposite. I didn't want to like it but did. When I used the original Pixel I HATED the camera for the first week and then after that thought it was amazing it's weird. It's like my eyes adjust to it or something.

I hear you... Pixel is an amazing device, but what makes it great is more subtle than what most look for in their device.

Yeah I used to be all about the flashy stuff like the Note or S series and now those drive me nuts and I want simplicity. Guess I'm getting old.

I'll stick with the Pixel 2 XL for my daily driver, but I'm sure I'll pick up another device or two along the way. I'm intrigued by the Mate 10 Pro, for instance.

I have a "raised eyebrow" of interest in the Mate 10 as well... Hate their having such trouble getting the device in the US though .. disappointing.

Yeah, I'm cautiously interested in Huawei. I just hope they're better with data, as in not sending it back to China like they did with previous devices.

I have the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL.
I had the OG Pixel for about 10.5 months and then the Pixel XL for 2 weeks before I got the Pixel 2.

My main reason for loving the Pixel is pure Android and the camera. I travel a lot and love taking pictures. Also I like taking pictures of my kid. I have tried every flagship in 2017 - G6, S8, iPhone 8+, Mix 2, Note 8, V30, iPhone X aside from the Google devices. As far as the camera is concerned, the Pixel 2 series crushes everything else out there.
