just switched from iPhone, my thoughts

Backed up all my contacts in itunes to gmail - kept having problems with accepting password and then turned off two-step authentication, contacts backed up just fine. Pulled the sim from my iPhone 4 (ATT subscriber) and popped it into my Nexus 4, signed into gmail and all my contacts populated. Was able to switch the APN and go from .5 Mbps to 5-8Mbps over the air. The content synced fine from my account (had a nexus 7 table for about month with a bunch of content on it).

The display is way better (And bigger) and the phone itself is much snappier. Very incredibly smooth, no lag anywhere. Never touched an iPhone 5 before but the Nexus 4 vs iPhone 4 is night and day. Glad I finally got rid of Apple completely.

Battery life is adequate for me, can't really find anything I don't like yet, although its only been a week.

if you have enabled 2 step authentication you have to use Application specific password to login to Android.


"Battery life is adequate for me" if you are rooted use greenify. its a life saver battery saver.

a friend of mine who moved from iphone to HTC One had problems with his battery(gets about 6 hrs)
I asked him to use greenfy and now he gets a day and a half

Turn off screen auto-rotate unless you are actively using it. Shut off GPS, NFC, and Bluetooth as well. The only other issue is deciding whether or not you want social media and instant messaging apps up and running on your phone, because those things will also be sources of battery drain. I only run FB and FB Messenger on my phone when I actually need to use them for some reason. The rest of the time, the apps sit there, but I'm logged out and I've quit them.

To be fair, iPhone 4 2.5 years old, that is pretty ancient. IPhone agree better than android, probably because iOS is so simple in comparison to modern android

I purchased a Nexus 4 after the HTC One was announced in February just to see what all the fuss was about. Definitely one of my better choices. It's a great phone for the price. Cannot beat it really.

I used that Nexus to convert a friend from iOS to Android and now he loves it and claims he isn't going back.

The first smartphone I owned was a Palm Pre. OMG, that thing was horrible. The UI looked nice, but the OS was totally not ready for prime time. As flawed as it was (and it was pretty seriously flawed) the Samsung Moment was infinitely better than that. Of course, it had so many deficiencies and problems that when I got my EVO 4G (and even from what I saw of the Epic 4G) my first reaction was "OMG, this is everything the Moment should have been!"

While I would say that the N4 is thus far the best smartphone I've ever owned, at least the EVO didn't have deficiencies. The N4 is just an upgrade (albeit a MASSIVE one) for me, and I can't express how pleased I am with it, and with the freedom and liberty and independence it has given me from any cell phone carrier.

Thank you, Google and LG. Y'all are awesome in my book.

Yeah really no comparison. Just waiting to see if an LTE Nexus is announced tomorrow..if it is I will replace my Note 2 with it. If not I will replace my Note 2 with an LG Optimus Pro G or whatever they call it...but i would prefer to go with a Nexus 4. Especially now that they have appeared to get their quality control issues worked out. I still have an iPhone 5 too but would certainly recommend the Nexus line first for iPhone switchers to avoid all the bloat from others companies..especially Samsung..bleh..

I don't even bother with that. I have Google now switched on and so I leave the GPS on 24/7 and just use the phone no different than when I use an iPhone. I still get at least one flu day or even 1.5 to 2 days on one charge. Stock all the way.

As long as NFC is off I can go about 2 days without charging and that is with WiFi on all the time. Bluetooth on and off depending on when I want to connect it to my car.

I'm thinking of switching from an iPhone 4 to the Nexus 4 if they release a 32GB version tomorrow. Glad to hear it's a nice upgrade.

I just bought one off of Swappa yesterday. If they release a 32GB version I might have to turn and sell the one I ordered and get the 32gig one. That's if I like it. Currently using iphone 5
