Just switched to Verizon

The only Verizon application I have installed is "My Verizon Nexus" so I can check my bill and data limit. Otherwise, stay away from their software. I use Google Voice for VM.

Do your VM messages show up in the phone app if you swipe all the way to your right or only in the google voice app? I'm trying to get mine to show up in the phone app so I don't have to use the GV app.

I have installed My Verizon Nexus, Verizon Cloud and Messages+. I am still using Textra as my main SMS app, but I have the Messages+ app installed to enable texting from tablet/PC. However, with that, my contacts are still not showing up on the desktop version of the Messages+ app, so I installed Verizon Cloud to try and sync my contacts there and get them to show up on the desktop. (My contacts show up with no issues on the phone version of Messages+). But, Verizon Cloud won't sync my contacts, so if I can't get that fixed, Cloud and Messages+ will be uninstalled.

Other than that, all I have done that is Verizon specific is utilize NFL mobile to be able to watch games.

Once I installed the GV app and set it up as my voicemail for my Verizon #, my VM messages started showing up in the phone app

Hmm, mine are not doing that. They are only showing up in the GV app. Any advice?

Edit: Ah, I figured it out. I had to tick a setting in the GV app to display in the phone app.

I ditched "Big Head Red" phone-wise since they failed to update my previous Sony Z3v to at least Lollipop. I have UDP, but I am getting close to ditching 'BHR' altogether since they increased UDP plans by $20 last month.

That, and the Z3v cracked so I had to get a new phone. No more carrier phones for me and update-wise, there have been 2 updates for the 6p in less than one month. The Z3v had only one minor update in the span of a year - smh.

And having no more bloat sure does help, too!

Thats one thing people fail to realize. People say the Nexus is a public test platform for Android OS but from what I have seen, Nexus has been the most sable phone I have every used. I barely reboot now. It wet from daily (old habits from G3) to weekly (again slowly moving away from bad habits) and now, I barely reboot. Maybe if I am driving and I feel like I should reboot just to do it since I'm not doing anything else on the phone while I'm driving.

I had the G3, had the initial LP update with all sorts of issues with battery, stability, and wifi data sync for 5 months before it was fixed and even after that fix, it was slightly more stable to use and wifi data synced works. Battery life was still horrible. That was 3-4 months ago and still nothing. Well none that I see in the forums about a software update but that's horrible. With most phones besides Apple and Nexus, manufactures release updates once it adds its bloatware to it, then the carrier has to approve it and meanwhile Apple and Nexus gets the latest and greatest when it's released.

The only issue I read about is the radio switching from 3G to LTE is laggy and sometimes doesn't work on the 6P and I had that issue as well but resetting APN and cache then reboot fixed it for me.
