Just used Samsung pay

Leave note 8 in pocket. Leave card in pocket. Swipe with Gear S3 watch.....now THAT'S cool😎

Bumped into my wife's stash of Gifts for Christmas.
There's a Gear S3 Frontier watch in her hiding spot .
She knows that I'm not a watch guy, so this may be for my son. Having said that, I can't see using a watch instead of my phone, my question is, how do you like it, and is it worth it to have the watch. My son already has all this stuff, but he has the LG v30+ and a watch already.
My guess is, it's for me. I'll try to use it, but just can't see forgoing my hand held note 8 for a high priced handcuff. I seen a freaking iPhone X too, she knows no APPLE products allowed in my house, unless that's for her new old man😁.
My father-in-law wanted that, but he has the iPhone 8 already. We'll see. Just trying to gage the room and see who's using these watches. 900.00 phone with a 400.00 dollar watch.
Does not compute

When you use Samsung Pay that is linked to a rewards credit card, do we get Samsung Reward points AND our credit card reward points I assume?

Another no-Samsung-Pay swipe machine today.

It works at about 2/3 of the businesses I have tried (mostly big chains)

I did encounter a few swipe terminals that would not detect Samsung Pay at all.

As long as the total $ ammt has been entered in before you put your phone up to the machine to send it's signal, then it will work. It will work at the mom and pop places where they have to punch in the info/ammt-they just have to get it to the point where they've pinched in the total $ ammt, then you can put your phone up to it. For instance...it won't work at the gas station before you pump because it doesn't see the 'total' yet. That's pretty much the only place's I haven't been able to get it to work.

Redbox as well for some reason, although it did detect my phone/card, but it said that was the wrong card associated with my acct for some reason(confused the Redbox kiosk basically), my actual card worked like normal. And Lowe's doesn't accept any kind of phone transaction-it will actually show it went through on your phone, but the reader at Lowe's won't accept the transaction...sat there and argued with the store manager, showed him on my phone the notification from Samsung pay that it processed. Then logged into my bank app to confirm and noticed it went through but then was credited back from Lowe's a min later.

I've had people say it won't work only to show them it does. As long as the swipe machine has the total $$ ammt punched in and is ready for the card to be swiped then you can put your phone up to it. It just has to be entered in and ready in their machine.

I will say though that it hasn't worked at Del Taco and Carl's Jr with their swipe readers that are right on their touch screen order machines they take your order on.

This is why I enjoy this forum it is so informative. I never thought about pay-at-the-pump that would be terrific, but alas
Some pumps may have the pay at pump feature where gotan hold the phone there to pay. A Sheets by my work used to have that, then they removed it, so I pay inside with the phone. Works great at the register things

It's entertaining when you use it and the cashier is surprised

I get the surprised reaction all the time with my Gear S3, which is surprising with the huge Apple Watch presence. My wife just set up Apple Pay on her phone and watch yesterday and used Apple Pay on her watch last night. I can't believe more people aren't using their Apple Watch.

No it will not work at gas pumps because they usually use a mechanical card reader which is different. The gas pump card readers require a physical press and release before the card is read. This is why you have to press in then remove. I've tried a few of the NFC pay options and those also struggle to work with Samsung Pay

Not true. There is a way to do it. Keep looking around the forums and you'll find the answer.

So have I. But sometimes they are right.

It was, and it didn't. No response at either the phone or the terminal.

For me it's smooth at some places but 7eleven accepts it, but sometimes it will say "Card read error" or something.

Unless you run into the latest nightmare me and countless other Note 8 and S3 owners have started to experience due to the Gear S plugin and Tizen 3.0 update.

No issues with mine whatsoever. Just got a new visa card issued...go into phone app and updated it no probs. Note is unlocked so maybe there's a carrier issue for some, also on the exynos version here but all I know is that mine works perfectly with my Credit Union & Visa debit card and it's not a gimmick, it's an added convenience.

What I love about it the most is when they tell me it's not going to work and then I hit them with (dragon ball z voice) you fool this isn't even my final form then Bing transaction completed and then I just smile and walk out lol

I've seen the posts, and think they're in the minority. Countless? Probably not. Maybe not in your specific case, but I think what we'll end up seeing is that it's a end-user issue where an app needs updating that is causing the issue.

I use Samsung Pay everyday, I average 70 transactions a month, I wish we got points for all of them! it's so easy and works so good, on my S3 or Note 8 (even on my S6 work phone if that's what's on me). Now, if I could find a way to legally put my drivers license on my phone I would say bye bye to my wallet.

You can add anything to "Memberships". I added my drivers license and passport.
While it may not satisfy the legal requirements, it is better than nothing if the original goes astray while travelling.

I also added my medical insurance cards.
