i have an incredible from Verizon.i used one of my old car chargers to charge my phone.when i hooked it up it said this is not an htc charger and should not be used(not in those exact words).it does charge my battery i can see it charging.my question is...is it OK to use this charger or will it mess up my phone..i think it will work fine but i would like some feedback from people that know the answer to this.thanks for your help.

For awhile I used a Motorola charger but I didn't get any warnings like you did. I only stopped because the connection became loose and wouldn't charge all the time without wiggling it a little. It shouldn't mess up your phone (just guessing) but it could have a bad effect on your battery. I always like to play it safe.

thanks.i hope to get a few more response..as of now i would only use it as a emergency untill i get one ...unless this one is ok to use than i keep it.

I use probably six or seven different chargers and I have never once seen the error message you are referring to. My battery is just as good as day 1. A micro-USB is the same as another one. The ONLY thing I could think of that would cause this error is if you were somehow receiving too much power. That's pretty unlikely though.

it was a charger for another phone.i had it laying around not sure what phone.but it is a car charger..thanks again.when i plug it in next time i will remember what it says....it is a Verizon charger also

Won't hurt it one bit but if its less than 1000Ma output, it will charge slower than the factory HTC charger.
