K9 won't download mail

I used K9 mail with IMAP on my Evo 4G and on my Samsung tablet - no problems. I just got a Galaxy S3. I first installed K9 mail and it worked for a few days, then it stopped downloading any mail at all. Even when I tried to manually download email, nothing came. I made sure all the settings were the same as on my Evo, which worked great for 2 years. Finally I uninstalled K9 and reinstalled. Again, it worked for a few days but now hasn't downloaded any mail since Dec 1.

At first when I hit the Check Mail button I would sometimes get a message at the top of the screen saying Syncing Disabled. Now I just have an orange bar going about halfway across the top, as if it were trying to process and got stuck. But nothing happens at all now when I hit the Check Mail button, on any account. I checked the incoming server settings and I don't get any error message.

I have 3 accounts set up (just like on my Evo). I do have a gmail account but that one is set up on the native gmail app, not on K9. I found that some people had trouble when downloading the same account into gmail and K9, but mine are not accessing the same account.

Some people also said to make sure polling is off when using push, which I have done. I'm pushing only 1st class folders.

Any ideas? I don't want to have to give up K9.
