Keep getting "Complete action using...."

If you have the kohl's app and defaults don't stick, delete the kohl's app. Worked for me and others.

Wow, can't believe the Kohl's app was causing this but I deleted it and it worked!! Had to select the default app once more and then tried it several more times clicking on links thru email and it did not ask me again! Yay!! I've spent hours and days searching and trying so many things. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Everytime i open a new window from an email or something i keep getting Complete action using.... then i choose the app i want but then it says i can go into settings and make changes. is there a way were i can set it and not get these messages again or is it just made this way/
Thanks Mike

As said in post #30, one of the fixes is installing a xpose frameword module. See here: How to Disable the "Clear Defaults" Popup Alert When Setting Default Apps on Your Samsung Galaxy S4 ? Samsung GS4 softModder

But it does require root.

Had the same problem on my S4.
I fixed it by pressing and holding the 'home' button, which brings up the 'task manager' screen.
On the menu bar at the bottom, press the left hand button, don't know what it's called (it looks like an unevenly sliced pie).
This will bring up a menu bar at the top, where you'll press the "clear default" button. Then you'll see a list of apps with "clear" buttons next to them.
I pressed "clear" for everything, to make a clean start again.
When you go back to your emails and press a link someone sent you it will ask "complete action using..." again. Select your choice and it will not ask you again for this type of link.
Do the same for photos sent in Whatsapp etc.
Hope this helps, was tearing my hair out over this.

I have had this problem for at least 6 months with two different phones, first with Galaxy S2 Cyanogenmod 11 android 4.4 and now with LG Nexus 5 android 4.4.

Every single time I have a missed call, I draw down the notification list and touch "Missed calls" item it gives me the "Complete action using" dialog. In this dialog I have chosen Dialer One and "Always". Despite of this the dialog comes always again and again.

I have went a few times to Settings -- Apps, and from there cleared defaults and clear cache for Google Dialler, Phone, Dialer One and exDialer. Still the dialog just keeps coming again and again.

Is there any solution to this?

Perhaps the problem is with the Dialer One app? If you select the stock Dialer app does the same problem occur?

I've been grappling with this issue for weeks- gone to every forum I could find, tried every solution. Nothing worked. Finally found the answer. As usual, Android relies on obscure developers to fix its OS.

Go to the Play Store and download Default App Manager Lite. It will give you a list things that need an associated app. click on one that says "no default app (Audio, Document, etc) It will take you to the next page showing a list of apps that will work. Click on "Set Default." It will bring up that same deadly "complete action using" box. Pick the app you want, click on Always. It will give the same old "Clear default app settings..." that you always see. Click OK and you'll see a green checkmark by the app you chose. That signals that you have set the default app. Voila- you won't see the "Set Default" box again.

Thank you Appiator!

Thanks for the reference to Default App Manager http://market.android.com/details?id=com.appiator.defaultappmanager - just note that the app hasn't been updated in about two years, and has a cumulative rating below 4.0 (my usual threshold for whether or not to trust an app - YMMV).

I also had this problem for over a year. Read through all these posts and I'm very happy to say uninstalling Kohls app resolved my problem. Very strange that Kohls app breaks app defaults. Running Android 4.4.2. I was seeing the problem in browser when clicking videos and when I king Spotify links from email. No problems now. Ditch Kohls APP and be happy!

I am using the ''white calling card' app, every time I dial a number using the calling card dialer the ''complete action using'' pops up. The Problem is I don't want any other app to complete the action. I want to use the calling card app to complete the action but I cant because the keeps getting interfered with and so I am not able to use the calling card. Any Idea on how to disable this feature completely so that it does not show up when I am using the calling card app?
