Keep getting "SD Card Missing" Alerts

I've been getting these messages intermittently for a few months but they always went away so I didn't worry about it. At one point I took it into my provider's shop (Boost) to have them take a look at it. Predictably they said I needed a new phone. They did take the SD out and looked at it and formatted it, but they said that my phone was shot. But lately it hasn't been going away so I decided to buy a new micro SD chip. It is a Sandisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-1 A1 for faster mobile app performance

I have formatted it both ways and it seems to formst just fine, but when I reboot it is not recognized

What should I do next? Thanks, Jim.

P.S. the phone is a Moto g(7) Play

When you go to Settings; Storage I was seeing 3 forms of memory Internal and 2 SD Cards. The problem was that the second SD card was like a phantom. I just had to delete it and "Forget" it and the problem went away

Don't always trust phone salesmen. They try and make money off the older less techsaavy population.
