GLaDOS V1.6

The latest innovation in human-smartphone interaction. Our scientist have shown in extensive tests that humans operating our kernel on their devices experience 67% more joy in life while simultaneously the likelihood of being maimed or killed by falling space debris is significantly reduced. Also preliminary human trials indicate that it might offer some protection against lethal dosages of gamma radiation and blows to the head with a rod-like object.

Always make a backup of your /efs/ directory (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1138873) before installing custom kernels or ROMs.

During installation the cache partition, Dalvik-cache and modules, init.d scripts and bootsounds from previously installed kernels are cleaned.

If you experience stability problems like reboots, freezes, FCs and SoDs and you did OC or UV, first try changing back to the stock settings. If this solves the problems, your OC/UV configuration is not stable. There are some indications that OC/UV settings which run fine at high battery charges might still cause problems at lower battery charges. So to be safe always check that your OC/UV configuration runs fine at low battery like 5%.

I do not offer support/help/recommendations on OC/UV. If you decide to do so and your device is unstable you are on your own. Check http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1335429 for help.

If you experience the problem that the DEEP IDLE state is not properly used (according to the idle_stats), read the last section of http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...24&postcount=1.

When reporting a bug always include information about your ROM and hardware model. Also be as precise as possible when describing the problem. Just because a single person is experiencing a problem, it does not mean there actually is a problem with the kernel. I always wait until at least one other person can confirm the issue before I look into it. So if you see someone posting a bug report, do not be shy and feel free to confirm the issue or if you do not have the problem let me know that too.

When asking for a feature you would like to see implemented in GLaDOS always provide a link with information about this tweak and preferably also a link to the source code.

For users unfamiliar with init.d scripts I recommend NSTools by arifhn (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1333696) for managing the various tweaks.

For anyone who hasn't tried this kernel, let me say that it is exceptional. I thought matr1x was good. Then I tried franco's kernel, which I thought was even better.

Installed GLaDOS 1.6 CFS a couple of days ago and haven't looked back.

There's a little glitch in terms of getting deep idle to kick in (have to open and close the camera app), but it does kick in after that and the performance as well as battery life is just great.

:):):):):)

using the matr1x right now :o . ^ same question wat is better?

For one, it's Ezekeel's kernel. Franco and matr1x base off of Ezekeel's mods. Beyond, that, I couldn't tell you anything more scientific other than I got better battery life and fewer (actually no) FCs on GLaDOS.

I installed PoolParty and am back on matr1x 11, but I will probably flash GLaDOS 1.7 after I let the battery run through another cycle or two.

I can't do above (because I use my phone - ha), but had been on Matrix, several versions and started
having all kinds of issues, not sure but drove me nuts.

Decided to try Glados since Ezekeel writes and everyone uses, like mentioned above. 1.8 is running fabulously, fast, best battery life I have had and zero problems. It has a lot of tweaks and a lot of info on xda, especially in the Nexus S if you want to read 67 pages of technical info, which I did, and actually learned alot.
Also has great support and knowledgable readers on threads to help.

This in combination of nstools is making the phone perform great, even making me not want to update to ICS and all the problems that will come with it - nah, just kidding!

I can't do above (because I use my phone - ha),

Of course...that was just a test to see how long it could go. Stock never lasted that long, and my Epic -- ha!

I'm a moderate user and get about 16-20 hours out of my phone. That typically includes about 1 hour of Pandora and maybe 30-45 minutes of Netflix.

But, I'm using franco's 12/8 kernel now.

Glados2.1 is out now with voodoo controls(supercurio updated in market too)

Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Xparent Cyan Tapatalk

I'm trying to flash this kernal, but I can't tell if it took. I don't think it did. Under phone info/kernal, what should it say if I'm running v 2.2?

3.0.8GLADOS-CFS(*NOTE, this could say bfs if you downloaded that version)-v2.2-00002-gb648cb5dirty

i'd screen shot it and post it...but my phone is suffering from too many quadrant tests and is on the charger lol

that's what mine says, minus the part in parenthesis.

SetCPU will show this same info to under kernel info...

You will see the v2.1/2.2 etc. listed in there along with CFS or BFS build.

It's odd....Astro shows the file installed on the phone. But when I try to install from recovery, I can't find the file anywhere. And I'm getting some kind of error about not being able to make a backup of the current rom when I try to install through ROM Manager. So something is all caddywompus.
