Toastch and Flipzmode have gotten the source code for Kernel 2.6.29 working with the Camera and lights. I'm not sure how Toast did it, but I'm pretty sure it involved quite a bit of hard work.
What does this mean? It means that we'll be able to have 2.1 ROMs with customized kernels with most of the functionality working (if not all). Currently, to overclock a 2.1 ROM the kernel has been version 2.6.27 (version that was released with 1.5 Cupcake). This meant that camera, lights, and other minor functionality would not work because of the framework.
I'm looking forward to some 2.1 AOSP goodness in the coming weeks. If anyone sees Toastch on here, give him a huge "Thanks" if you can.
