[Kernel] Jelly Bean and Sprint GNex compatible Kernels

I'm on the RC3 build of the ACS JB ROM and forgot to flash the Samurai kernel :(

I'm running RC3 with the lean kernel and it's great! This fully source built ROM is so smooth and fast :-)

On Samurai I am running 350 min and 1600 max. Been using Voltage Control and so far no issues.

One more "kernels for noobs" question: I know when flashing it's verying important to do things in order. When in the process do you flash the kernel?

The process as I understand it. Please correct any mistakes
  1. Setup the SKD and device drivers (completed)
  2. Unlock bootloader (completed)
  3. Flash custom recovery
  4. Make nandroid backup
  5. Wipe data, cache, dalvik
  6. Flash ROM
  7. Flash gapps
  8. Reboot into Android
  9. Enjoy

9 times out of 10 it's preferable to let your phone reboot after flashing a ROM then go back into Recovery, wipe dalvik and cache (not necessary after clean install but I do it anyway), then flash the kernel.

Thanks.

Am I missing a rooting step? I thought flashing the custom ROM would automatically root me, but I saw in some other post someone say that you had to root before you flash the custom recovery.

Thanks.

Yeah, you can use this tool to root your phone. It'll unlock your phone, root it, and install a custom recovery for you. Then you can flash a custom ROM.

Yeah, I've seen that toolkit. It looks really useful and really easy. But I want to do it manually so I can learn how everything works and understand exactly what I'm doing. Once I understand everything I may switch to one-click, automated methods for ease of use.

So if you don't mind, where in this process do I root, and how exactly do I do it? Thanks again.

Once you have the boot loader unlocked you can push superuser thru fastboot like you did the recovery. That's how the tool kits do it.
